@victor-meldrew. We've played Fiji twice, Tonga, Italy, USA, Argentina (ranked 8th) who are having an abysmal season & an inexperienced rudderless Wallabies (ranked 6th) without all their key game influencers from the SA matches..
I like the way you manage to cherry pick facts for arguments.
How was Aussie without their key game influencers, does Rennie not picking them suggest he didn't think they were the influencers that you think.
Also weren't ABs without the same in a lot of games, unless you are suggesting that Smith isn't a a big influence how ABs play and ditto with Sam Whitelock etc.
I have said before I not saying that Foster should or should not be coach, just simply saying you have to use same yardstick to measure all teams. Hell ABs were without BB for test against France and most of test against Ireland, it's not an excuse for them losing, just saying most proper rugby pundits picked him as their 10 of the year, but it doesn't excuse or otherwise the results. You have to be consistent on how you chose to judge coaches etc. -

I'm in favour of a Razor appointment in the style of Rassie, Cheika or Mitch given where we are in the cycle. He is well suited to shake things up and will improve the side in the short term. But we have to be realistic that over the medium to long term the odds are against him.
Change/shake-ups can often bring a temporary improvement ( it's called the Hawthorne Effect) and that, along with a cold, hard look at top level rugby in NZ, is probably the best way forward.
Just swapping out Foster isn't going to fix the bigger problems.
Those problems are a pretty easy fix though - the guts of it is that the forwards are not doing the hard yakka by taking the ball up, so the backs are not getting good platforms to work from, also we need a shake-up in the set pieces... & the playmakers 9 & 10 are not making smart decisions.
We have a head coach & assistant coach that are way out of their depth... if one of the following, Robertson, Schmidt, Brown or Joseph replaced him as head coach & with their own assistant they'd fix this shambles Foster created pretty quickly. -

Fuck my pet hate aimless box kicking,Waste of possession.
2021 I saw more of this than ever before.
Just stop it.
A tactic that is used when you have no clue how to breakdown a defence.
And your ideas on creative defensive organisation are impotent. You're bloody clueless... reckon you'd have trouble analysing the back of your own hand.

You must see a lot of the back of your hand at least every time you jump on here and talk shit.
Stuffs your argument then I was agreeing with you on the use of the box kick FFS.

You don't have any ideas about how to counter the flat defences.

You are just a sorry dude behind your keyboard trying to convince everyone you are the worlds greatest Rugby analyst.I would say you have never played any sport just in your dreams and probably had your head dunked in the toilet many times at school because you were as weak as.
Sorry you are just another keyboard warrior thinking you are important when you are as important as a pair tits on a bull. -

It’s the last time I agree with the man in the clown suit behind his keyboard.

What happens when they fail after the 1st or 2nd year? Then what? Back to square one with another coaching team, and then another?
The problems with the current AB's performance - e.g. half-back succession, lack of physicality, front-row stocks - have been around for quite a while and run far deeper than just the coaching setup. Unless those issues are analysed and fixed, better get used to the win ratio slipping.
The idea that all the problems and losses since 2016 are all uniquely down to Foster and can all be solved by getting rid of him is at best simplistic, at worst a self-defeating comfort blanket with the potential to make things worse.

Obviously it's with the use of the
boxcrosschip kick!Remember the FBL experiment?

That doesn't mean we should accept mediocrity & continue persisting with our underwhelming 'continuity' option.
I never suggested we should.
I'm just pointing out that to blame and locate the date of the slide in AB performance, and lack of quality players in NZ rugby, entirely on one bloke's presence in the coaching set-up is nonsensical - as is thinking all those problems will be magically fixed by one or two other blokes.
-
@victor-meldrew so when a former player of Foster's at the Chiefs gives a scathing assessment of his coaching methods that isn't of any concern to you?
“It was quite loose and unorganized as nobody really knew their role. I look at the team now and it’s exactly what I'm seeing.”
You don't think that we could possibly see a significant improvement in performance by appointing someone more qualified?
After all, Chiefs won just 49% of their matches between 2004-2011 under Foster's coaching (encompassing 108 games in total).
Then, in a stark contrast, Chiefs went on to win 69% of their matches between 2012-2017, since Foster had departed...
Isn't that sufficient evidence to suggest to you that the majority of our problems lie with the current coaching staff?
