@hooroo If you back your judgement and your judgement is good, then players who miss out aren't unlucky, they are less deserving than those who got picked.

@tim Lets be honest, if Akira didn't push and shove after scoring tries early in his career, everyone would love him and there would be no dispute as to whether he should be there or not.'

He's the enforcer we've been looking for since Kaino moved on.

@frye he strikes me as the ultimate team guy, someone that can fit into and help improve any team culture.

As a Northland fan, while disappointed for him, I am also relieved he hasnt made it (yet) as I am hopeful he will lead us in the NPC.

I kinda hate Salakaia-Loto for being run around by George Bridge in that 2019 bledisloe and now Bridge just gets to be an All Black for the rest of eternity.

He was playing 6 that night. There's a reason Rennie and Brad Thorn don't play LSL at 6.

    @bones Off the bench, wiseguy.

Not sure Faiane is in the selection frame, even from the bench...

whether anyone thinks he should be there or not it hard to argue with how much it means to them which is cool to see, more than just a job

I think I'm happier with just "unlucky players". πŸ™‚

Even though Big Leicester is one of my Mako boys, I have to say that right now, I'd choose Bridge ahead of him. Leicester still makes a lot of mistakes - regardless of colours he's not safe.

He should be a Fern favourite right now, though - because if he'd just recycled that ball close to the line instead of crabbing over the line and getting penalized, the Crusaders would have scored the try they needed and recent history might be quite different.... πŸ™‚

Or Ennor dropping the ball with the line open. Quality AB play there.

Might be a prerequisite for Fozzie's AB centres? πŸ™‚

@chris Is Enari staying at the Crusaders? He was an absolute gun at U20 level, then basically didn't play for several years. Has also suffered under poor coaching at Canterbury. There must be something wrong with him if he doesn't move to get more opportunity, as he will have doomed any international aspirations by staying in the same franchise.

Enari has been out of NPC and SR for at least a year, because of a horror leg injury. I think it was 2019?

He has now moved away from Canterbury and will be the top dog in the Magpies' squad, with both Weber and Fakatava unavailable. The Magpies have great coaches. He now gets the chance to prove himself and should grab the opportunity with both hands. If successful, who knows whether/where he'll end up playing Super Rugby?

Who the hell would move to an NPC team with already Fakatava and Webber there in your position? Game time will be pure luck, not design.

The guy has a great knack for terrible transfers, it seems.

I don't think it's as simple as that, though I do agree with your last sentence.

BBBR is a head rubber/pusher from way back but has always been awesome so people over look the dickhead part of his game.

There were not many fluffybunnyier players than Dane Coles in NZ rugby. People got over this once his form become undeniable. He's still a fluffybunny.

It's pretty obvious now that AIoane had his own demons that needed to be sorted. It wasn't as simple as 'he pushes people after he/they score'. But Hansen seems to have completely misread him as a person and rather building him as a person and player, he shamed him in public. This might be the kick in the arse some young guys need but it had the exact opposite effect on AIoane to the detriment of NZ rugby. Hansen had a bit of history with this in Ross and Luatua before.

Brad Weber is with the ABs this season, and it may very well be his last in NZ.
Fakatava won't play for us this year because of his injury, and may very well be in the ABs, next year, or the following year.
The guy has made a good move. He's first choice this season, and first or second choice next year.

@bovidae I saw him on photos of the Crusaders' training during the last week of the SR T-T round robin. Running at the time, no contact training, I think, that week.

    Fozzie on Christie:

β€œWith Finlay, we were really excited with how fast [he is], he's quick to the ruck, and things happen around him,” All Blacks coach Foster said.

β€œIt's like he’s had too much sugar before each game. He runs around and is very, very busy.”

Probably sums up all the good and bad of his play right there!
