Sources have confirmed to RugbyPass that Sanzaar are weighing up shifting the Rugby Championship to Europe for the remainder of the competition, following the Springboks’ match with Argentina this weekend. Four double-headers are tentatively being planned for Paris, London, Dublin and Cardiff.

@kiwimurph SANZAR are overlooking the possibility of the Isle of Man as a potential competition hub I tell you.
Other candidates include Reunion Island, Palau and Pitcairn Island.

The time difference would suck for us unless they were night games.

If it were at Twickenham I could actually take my kids to an All Black match which would be bloody emotional!

There are tens of thousands of Covid cases in Europe every day, so it is far more dangerous than NZ or Australia ! Someone will have to explain why it is safer - from a health perspective - to move the games there.
It's not safer but there is a lower chance of the tournament being disrupted or cancelled if they host it there. Covid isn't going away so we have to learn to live with it and playing tests in countries with high cases will be the new norm going forward.
If all the teams are fully vaccinated, and are in their bubbles then I don't see what the problem is. It will also be easier for wives and partners to travel and be with the team. After all we are going on an EOYT there anyway.

UK, Ireland and France have already double vaccinated almost anyone who wants. Certainly where I am, vaccinations are freely available for anyone over 16 . All three states have therefore lifted the vast majority of COVID restrictions.
The risk of cancellation is therefore significantly lower. There is a higher risk to players and management of catching Covid, but if they can offset the risk of illness by putting them in bubbles as well as vaccination.

The perception is it's dangerous, thanks to MSM.
With low hospitalisation and a relatively low daily death toll this part of the world is where you want to be at the moment.

fucking hilarious if the Aus and NZ national rugby sides are forced to play in the UK because of the wya our Governments are treating Covid
hilarious in a sad and depressing way.

If this did eventuate I think it would go a long way to driving the narrative about living with covid-19 like the rest of the developed world.

@mikethesnow except Aus and NZ have even lower death and hospitilisation rates and until recently far greater freedoms. Even until the last few days the only freedom you have in UK that Kiwi's don't is to go to Corfu or Marbella.
MSM spouting BS has worked both ways.
I do agree this is a clever way to minimise disruption - line the unions pockets and let some ex pats see their teams

Rapa Nui extra points for a conversion over the tops of Moai.
oh hang on, you said Pitcairn! Why not Norfolk Island, tehnically on the continent of New Zealandia, in between Australia and NZ, and tried to join NZ and leave Australia a few years ago. Plus I think they have relatives in both (mainland) countries.
Just need a travel pass I think plus they could use the money

All Blacks and Black Ferns home tests cancelled; NZR pauses All Blacks Perth travel
New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has announced the All Blacks’ two home Fortinet Rugby Championship Tests against South Africa and the Black Ferns two O’Reilly Cup Tests against the Wallaroos will not be played in New Zealand.
The decision follows advice from Government that the Springboks and Wallaroos would not be able to enter New Zealand to play the matches due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
The All Blacks were scheduled to play South Africa at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on Saturday 25 September, and at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday 2 October. The Black Ferns were scheduled to play the Wallaroos at Rugby Park, Christchurch, on Sunday 26 September and at Eden Park as part of a double header with the All Blacks.
NZR has also confirmed that, given the current uncertainty over The Rugby Championship schedule, it has made the decision not to send the All Blacks to Perth this weekend for the third Bledisloe Cup Test which was scheduled to be played at Optus Stadium on Saturday 28 August.
Ticket holders for the matches in Auckland and Dunedin will receive a full refund and will be contacted by the respective ticket providers in due course - Ticketek for Forysth Barr Stadium, and Ticketmaster for Eden Park.Speaking on the decision to not have the All Blacks travel to Perth this weekend, Robinson said:
“Without complete certainty on the team’s next movements around The Rugby Championship we felt it was prudent for the team to stay put in New Zealand until SANZAAR have announced the full tournament schedule.
“Once the team leaves our shores, they currently can’t return until November 23 post their Northern Tour, so given the uncertainty, it makes sense to pause and get more clarity on these fixtures. -
AB remaining home tests cancelled. Perth travel paused.

Sensible decision really. Hopefully teams get to fly to locales where they've got a more mature and developed response so we can see some rugby.
