@nzzp And now no dollars. Perhaps the basline dollars were too much to risk? Very dumb management. Any change would have to involve another two weeks in quarantine, so any fall back position was going to be fucked anyway.

smart risk management would have been to head out to WA as soon as Auckland got played. Not ideal for players, but best for the championship. I mean, how else do you mitigate the (small) risk of a sudden 2 week quarantine being required?

Easy to say in hindsight. But we'd been clean for months

No guarantee that SA and Arg make to WA either, which is independent of what is happening in NZ.

We had - but Delta was floating about. Risk registers will ahve this - but it's probably a risk that gets tolerated. Whether that's a smart idea or not is another question- but it was a risk you could mitigate by travelling early.

It isn't easy, but should have been on the radar

Maybe there is some quid pro quo from SANZAAR to come as the SA/NZ game clashes with a possible AFL Grand Final.

How could this be quid pro quo?

Everyone in New Zealand knew it was just a matter of time.

Rejig the schedule to free up that date and things can proceed. Everyone happy.

Fair enough, although I don't think RA had more than 1 agreed WA game to proceed with, that being bled 3.

The others were being re-shopped around due to, obviously, aspects such as playing in NSW being less than optimal.

Exclusive: Sanzaar considering shock Rugby Championship relocation

Exclusive: Sanzaar considering shock Rugby Championship relocation

While the bulk of the Rugby Championship was set to be played in Australia this year due to the ongoing impact of the global pandemic, RugbyPass understands that the competition is potentially set for a surprise relocation.

Sources have confirmed to RugbyPass that Sanzaar are weighing up shifting the Rugby Championship to Europe for the remainder of the competition, following the Springboks’ match with Argentina this weekend.

Four double-headers are tentatively being planned for Paris, London, Dublin and Cardiff.

@kiwimurph SANZAR are overlooking the possibility of the Isle of Man as a potential competition hub I tell you.

Other candidates include Reunion Island, Palau and Pitcairn Island.

The time difference would suck for us unless they were night games.

If it were at Twickenham I could actually take my kids to an All Black match which would be bloody emotional!

If they play the games at night like they used to often do, you can wake up and watch over breakfast

There are tens of thousands of Covid cases in Europe every day, so it is far more dangerous than NZ or Australia ! Someone will have to explain why it is safer - from a health perspective - to move the games there.

It's not safer but there is a lower chance of the tournament being disrupted or cancelled if they host it there. Covid isn't going away so we have to learn to live with it and playing tests in countries with high cases will be the new norm going forward.

If all the teams are fully vaccinated, and are in their bubbles then I don't see what the problem is. It will also be easier for wives and partners to travel and be with the team. After all we are going on an EOYT there anyway.

UK, Ireland and France have already double vaccinated almost anyone who wants. Certainly where I am, vaccinations are freely available for anyone over 16 . All three states have therefore lifted the vast majority of COVID restrictions.

The risk of cancellation is therefore significantly lower. There is a higher risk to players and management of catching Covid, but if they can offset the risk of illness by putting them in bubbles as well as vaccination.

The perception is it's dangerous, thanks to MSM.

With low hospitalisation and a relatively low daily death toll this part of the world is where you want to be at the moment.
