@mikethesnow except Aus and NZ have even lower death and hospitilisation rates and until recently far greater freedoms. Even until the last few days the only freedom you have in UK that Kiwi's don't is to go to Corfu or Marbella.
MSM spouting BS has worked both ways.
I do agree this is a clever way to minimise disruption - line the unions pockets and let some ex pats see their teams
The worst is possibly to come to in Aus and NZ.
And play to more than half-full stadiums.

I don't see how NZ rugby can lead a sustainable long term existance without at least some of the SANZAAR partners.
I've always thought this, but i am starting to wonder if Aus are an advantage to us at all
Their Super level is shit. The Wallabies are shit. And both have been for a while.
How long do we need to wait for them to get better to be an actual positive for the product?
I have no time for the saffers at all. Happy to play tests, but the rest is too hard, and the whinging too draining.
I don't disagree, but that just leaves us playing with ourselves unless the argies are up for something.
So playing with yourselves it is then

@sparky Why's Nathan Harris in the 23? Hasn't even played SR for a long time. It makes much more sense to start Dixon, and hand Eklund the 16 jersey.
Vaa'i is in the RC squad isn't he, so he shouldn't be in this line-up. Quinten Strange probably the pick for the 4 jersey as he was in ABs camp, last year.
There must be someone better than Shaun Stevenson and Jona Nareki is injured. Salesi Rayasi (14) and Zarn Sullivan (23)?
-
@stargazer Fine with all that. I haven't been following the NPC closely enough to know exactly who is injured and who isn't.
My thought with Harris was to start someone with Test experience. Vai'i hasn't played this year so might want the game time. Strange is the forgotten man of NZ Rugby.
It would not be the worst side in the world. Australia would be favourites but I doubt it would be a blow out.

SA Rugby ready to host Rugby Championship, says CEO Jurie Roux By Staff Reporter Time of article published 2h ago SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux has stated South Africa are ready to host the remainder of the Rugby Championship as they “just need the go-ahead” from the national government and SANZAAR. This situation has arisen following New Zealand Rugby (NZR) unilateral announcement that the two home Rugby Championship Tests against Springboks will not be played in New Zealand, and that the All Blacks would not be flying to Perth this weekend for the third Bledisloe Cup Test which was scheduled to be played at Optus Stadium on 28 August. The NZR’s decision was based upon the tightening of regulations placed on travel and quarantine by various state and national governments in Australasia. SANZAAR said it was “currently working night and day with all stakeholders, and the tournaments’ associated commercial partners and rights-holding broadcasters, to find a suitable solution for the remaining matches.” It is considering a range of options – including the hosting of the event in South Africa – and would make an announcement once all logistical, commercial, and broadcasting considerations had been taken into account. MORE ON THIS Wallabies are ’bloody angry’ after All Blacks Bledisloe pull-out New Zealand cancel Rugby Championship home Tests against Springboks Springboks vs All Blacks in London a possibility “We have advised SANZAAR that we are ready and able to host the remainder of the competition in South Africa, pending our Government’s approval,” said SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux. ALSO READ: Wallabies are ’bloody angry’ after All Blacks Bledisloe pull-out “But we are now well-versed in turning on rugby Tests within the prevailing COVID restrictions and have the venues and accommodation necessary. We just need the go-ahead.” The Springboks and Pumas were scheduled to fly to Australia on Sunday night but that flight has been put on hold until a new schedule for the tournament is confirmed. Saturday’s Rugby Championship match between the Boks and Pumas at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is unaffected and will go ahead as scheduled. Kick-off is 5:05pm and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

@machpants Alright look man, I can't be fucked to argue the nuances. Australia have a) quarantined for two weeks in order to play in NZ and b) rearranged the schedule to suit NZRU and to navigate pandemic related difficulties. We agreed to play Eden Park twice, for fuck sake. The single dumbest thing any rugby playing nation has ever done.
Now that there are difficulties in the other direction NZRU pull the plug via social media? jog on to mount doom and dive in.
Um, Australia kept selecting Quade Cooper to play the All Blacks, that must have been pretty close.

I wouldn’t pick one Australian in a combined ANZAC C team…
As to the whole situation, it’s not great and I suspect both sides of the Ta$man have been chasing their tails trying to claim some sort of moral high ground in what in reality is crap for all.
The faux outrage is a little funny though.

@act-crusader that is simply sensational bait. Bravo. I assume you’d have Hooper in the B squad. Might quibble over one or two of the props but otherwise not outrageous.
I doff my cap to a master at work.

Surprised by the bizarre postings on this topic. Am I the only one disgusted by how Mark Robinson has played this one out in the media. I have full sympathy for Dave Rennie and the Perth rugby community. In my eyes NZRU have an awful lot of explaining to do to prove they weren't deliberately making a non decision to travel to bring pressure on others to improve their financial outcomes. Smacks of selling out our Australian friends to seek a better financial result from AB's trip out of NZ. Surely the travel arrangements were initially made for Perth and someone has decided to cancel them. I pity the poor players being faced with so much uncertainty.
Finally, why so much condescending disrespect for Australian players like Koroibete Tupou Hooper Toomua O'connor Valetini? -
Robinson's naivety was apparent as he could have just said that the ABs can't fly to Perth due to the change in WA's controlled border arrangements with NZ which requires 14 days of self-quarantine. Then if Rennie, Marinos and co whinge they should be asking questions of McGowan not NZR.

Yes, his name is Covid. He has fucked up a lot of travel plans for a lot of people.

That's not totally accurate I believe. They wouldn't have had to quarantine for two weeks as long as they arrived today, and they would have been allowed to train in their bubble.
The main issue is that if the remaining RC games don't go ahead, then the ABs won't be able to return home after the Perth test as there are no MIQ rooms available until November. That's how I read it anyway.
