Silver Lake buying a stake in the ABs?

Unless they did something ‘hip’ like getting the NZR commentary by those fuckheads from the Alt cricket commentary.

@Winger my understanding of the deal was they had actions in growing the revenue too, it wasn't a straight equity injection (we give you some money and you give us some profit later), silverlake sold the idea of tapping into new revenue streams they had access too...and we havent seen any of that
Always a big issue. The Neoclassical economics model is all about selling ownership for investment. It’s whether the investment is nothing more than finance you could have got from a bank. NZ’s state owned asset sales perfect example.

I'd drop Sky for NZR+ if they streamed games. I don't watch anything else on Sky.
That's why I am on Sky Sport Now, I got rid of satellite. I think I have watched one thing on NZR+ but I like games and analysis, I'm not interested in the 'stars' as personalities and behind the scene 'insights' - so I'm not the target audience
-
really feel like NZR are on a different planet, all the fluffy content "work" in other sports on the back of competitive and popular sports with engaged fan bases.... not independent of those things

Ta$man v Welly not being broadcast here. Sky UK broadcasting fuck all games this year and seemingly at random, with many weekends no games at all (like this weekend). What the fuck is that about?
I thought silverlake was supposed help sort this kinda shit, not going to improve the product if you get even less eyes on it. Just went on the AB app for the first time in about a year and see it hasn't changed and a bit crap looking. Does what it needs to I guess but a bit of a crap experience and dislike how dated it seems with some pages showing old info compared to other pages.

They appear to be takers more than givers....

@Bones The All Blacks website is terrible. The design feels ten years old of date.
I work for the design agency that looks after their site, it look's tens years out of date because it's probably that old. They don't like to spend money on the site so don't be expecting a refresh anytime soon.

Sounds pretty bizarre especially taking into account the release of NZR+ too. You guys involved in that?

I would guess Sky tv in UK decide what they broadcast, and probably weeks ahead, and not knowing it a shield challenge wasn't booked in??
I understand frustration at missing it etc, but we get same here in NZ mate, we see some Premiership games from England, but not all, and I get a bit pissed if they not showing the game I am interested in. Couple of years back I followed Bristol Bears got a few of their games but got to hard. I figured the tv channles don't have same priorities as me the bastards!! -

That's mostly being done by another agency but our agency has done a little bit. The All Blacks site is looked after by a different team, so unfortunately I never get to work on it

ha, I can imagine someone coming across a random All Black profile of LabCat on the website and associated blurb about his career

Silver Lake's expert input (probably): "No one looks at websites."

Everything they do is out of date. As a spectator and fan they treat you like you don’t matter. Compare that to NRL where they just feed the publicity monster in every way they can - open discussions on refereeing decisions and bunker process, commentators that add something to the game, post match discussions that actually talk about player’s and ref performances, rule changes and advice about how they are being applied, fantastic website that acts as a one stop site for everything including player suspensions and injuries. You would think they would just look at what the NRL do and go we need some of that.

@antipodean tbf I think that seems across the board in nz rugby, most provinces/super update thier Web content now and again, but they (well the 'better ones' do) seem to engage mainly via FB or IG for stuff we would traditionally have gone to websites for.
