It really comes down to who else you have in the team as kicker for me. Cully if you do, Burke if you don't.
I've got Dan at 10 kicking goals, so I'll take the Cullen attack
No slight to matt burke though, who is genuinely one of my favourite players ever, and a hell of a top bloke.

He got a bit prissy about being shifted to 13 for Rogers tho - reading his book he's all "I didn't want to upset team harmony but I was fucking filthy"
-
@mariner4life Yep. Works for me.
@Siam said in Bledisloe Four: Brisbane, 7 November:
Burke at fullback, Cully on a wing...?
Is that blasphemy? am I going to hell now?
Yes. Yes you are. You could have put Cully at centre and made absolutely sure but you have done enough.

Can't blame him for that. A league ring in gets his spot? I'd be pissed as well.
Burke was a mate's neighbour. He said that he was a good bloke.

I would've been too. He was better than Rogers. In fact that whole period of RA overpaying for pretty average players to code swap would've upset me as a rugby player.

@voodoo reminds me of the "fights" I had with an ocker mate for years:
Matt Burke or Christian Cullen?
I did like Matt Burke, absolutely a legend
But Cully!!!
Matt Burke is in my all-time XV...

But he would’ve wanted to after all the crap Waratah teams he turned out for!

@ACT-Crusader Ewen McKenzie told me (Bkk was great for pissing up with after dinner speakers who needed a "guide" - 5am with big Link before leaving him at the Sheraton with a well known NZ rugby broad caster, - nothing happened, I'm being salacious) about the circumstances leading to Burke not getting a waratahs contract.
from 2004: "Burke's future in Australia is over at the top level after he was left out of the Wallabies' training squad and the Waratahs decided not to take up an option on his contract."
NSW Coach (and former NSW and Australian teammate) Ewen McKenzie's decision to drop Burke drew ire from many in the union fraternity, including Phil Kearns and Simon Poidevin, who accused McKenzie of disloyalty and being shortsighted.[15]
"In a sign of continued bad blood between the two, McKenzie would later ridicule suggestions that Burke would be recalled to the Australian Wallabies in 2007 (see below); describing it as return of the "superannuation crew". Burke responded by deriding McKenzie's apparent "ignorance of British Club Football" – where he was playing at that time.[16] However, Burke would later endorse McKenzie for Wallabies coach prior to his appointment in late 2013"
I remember he said at the contract meeting Burke only talked about house plans and earnings. Link not impressed, weighed up age and attitude and made his decision.
Anyway, a quick fall from grace, puzzling at the time, but mostly a chance to shameleesly name drop a night on the piss with Ewen...

Oh, fuck.
I think we need an intervention.

Report from game town.
Weather Report:
26 deg, bit of cloud and not much wind.Teeny tiny bit of
rainprecipitation (not even a shower) heading through the Sunny Coast. Currently a couple of small shadows on the radar north of here. But nothing to speak of.Not a yuuge vibe in town. A few Wobbly jumpers, a few less Black shirts. But they are around.

It's an absolutely beautiful day for it. Timed it well. Lovely outdoor breakfast weather too. I was alone sadly.
