@Bovidae Unless some sort of financial compensation package is put in place by the sponsors/TV companies/World Rugby.
I think you'll see ABs and Aus play each other four times in late September and October. Then travel north to play England & Wales & perhaps SA in the UK too after that.
Are we assuming quarantine restrictions won't be applying by then?
-
@booboo We can go to England and Uk, and play them fine. It's coming back when the ABs would have to quarantine. If they split the gates it could be worth it, but no way are any NH teams coming here. They don't have the time to do a 2 week quarantine in a hotel before they play

From July 14th travellers from 54 countries to England (including NZ and Aus) will face no quarantine restrictions. Wales will follow.
Spectators aren't yet allowed in stadiums, but the RFU are confident that by October/November stadiums will be partial open.
The ABs would have to face quarantine on their way back to NZ.

And if Uncle Winston has his way then NZR would have to foot the bill.

@Number-10 Total madness. The NZ Government should be helping arguably NZ's most recognisible brand globally, not putting barrier after barrier in their way.
I'd be trying to arrange an AB-SA game for November at Wembley with a 50-50 revenue share. You'd sell 90,000 tickets within minutes once restrictions are removed.
-
If, God forbid, there are no AB tests this year, that'll be the first year of no test rugby for the All Blacks since . . . 1948.

@sparky at 100 quid a shot
The NFL London games aren't happening in 2021 so there'll be more weekends when Wembley is available.
The more you look at it a 5 nations mini-tournament involving SA, Aus, NZ in England & Wales in November/early December makes huge financial sense.
-
I doubt there will be crowds in UK in November.
Would not make financial sense to organize a tournament for the 3 teams on the other side of the world at time of predicted second wave, with likely no crowds. Couldn't insure that kind of recklessness. Exposed to huge potential (likely) losses.
Going to Japan in November might make sense, if repeatedly playing Oz doesn't appeal (it doesn't). But JRFU look to be getting involved in the 8 team comp RFU are trying to organize.

If cases keep going down in the UK, restrictions will ease further. All rumour but UK government is looking at allowing sport in stadiums with some spectators from September/October

No doubt restrictions will ease further, right up until they go start going back on again. Probably around October/ November.
Tough situation to be in. Obviously all unions need to keep planning for resumptions. Hopefully the European Autumn does work out for those interested in trying to play there and then.

Mate I reckon not even @dogmeat or @ACT-Crusader were alive then.

Maybe @Lee-Grant?
But I digress.

Pretty sure the Everest is on Oct 17. So if they could organise an AB test that night, I'm all in.

Whats the Everest?
Can't see it going ahead this year, given Melbourne's just locked down for 6 weeks again. Can't see Jacinda & co being keen to send /receive sports teams to / from anywhere in Oz for a long time yet.
-
@MajorRage Melbourne/Victoria is completely locked down from the rest of Australia. I don't see that being a dealbreaker.

I can see it now, “The show must go on! Tasmania and Stewart Island get their first Bledisloe tests”
-
-
Plans coming out that the TRC will go ahead this year played solely in NZ if a way to get the other teams into the country is agreed with the government
-
I'm on for that, lotsa games to see
-
The trans- Ta$man bubble better be operational then.

Or they quarantine A league or NRL style
-
@canefan I think he might be meaning he can get over to watch!
I would hope that the teams get authority to train whilst in Q, Hotel/team bus/training ground bubble for their 2 weeks. Then a week lead upo to their first test.

The way it's going right now, not going to be able to do it

The Aussies can bring grandads ball and chain to ensure that they don’t skip quarantine
-
Please let this happen. Just playing Australia would be a big disappointment.
-
I'll be flying back on a NZ passport.

To do two weeks quarantine for a couple of footy matches? Or are you assuming/hoping there will be a Trans Ta$man bubble by then?
I will be surprised if we have a bubble by then, assuming it is in October, right after our Election.
-

Be a bit farcical though wouldn't it? I mean I'd be buying tickets like everyone else but the other three nations aren't likely to be exactly match hardened.

Ozzie will be, as much as us. Boks and Pumas, maybe not so muc. But it will be revenue shared, and those guys are as desperate as us for money

Yeah. We would be heavy favourites though. Home games and quite a bit more decent rugby under the belts.

Mark Robinson said that TRC would likely run from early Nov to mid-Dec. That removes any chance of going north.
Those dates would mean a small overlap with the NPC in Nov, and ABs could be involved in the early stages of the NPC.
-
UK government has announced that spectators will probably be allowed in stadiums from October.
England and Scotland will host internationals in November. (Wales have a problem as their stadium is still on standby as a Nightingale hospital).
Big row coming with UK government if the ABs make themselves unavailable.

No row, and nothing to do with govt. But tests are reciprocal, NH haven't come here, so we don't need to go there. And no way the ABs are going to the plague infested rest of the world anytime soon
