Jaguares v Hurricanes

@Winger Hilarious comment about Flanders, considering there are two long-term injuries (Savea and Taramai, who I don't rate at all). Here's a reality check: as long as Savea and Taramai are out, Flanders will be the first on the bench once injury/suspension etc strikes the remaining loosies (or even locks, which may mean they have to move Fifita to the second row, with Le'aupepe out for most of the season). What Flanders needs isn't "another year in the gym"; what he needs is game time to get the necessary experience.
The same applies to the reserve props, esp Rakete-Stones, who was also on debut. Rakete-Stones wasn't awful, he was inexperienced (he was better during M10 Cup than Numia). I assume R-S was picked for the first game due to injuries (Fidow probably wasn't ready for round 1). R-S is a very strong lad, which will help the Canes' pack immensely when he has more game minutes under his belt. As with Flanders, he needs game time for his development.
When the newbies get their chances needs to be carefully managed and the right games need to be picked, but injuries will override such planning. You'd better get used to it.
Mafileo isn't even a squad member; he's only there due to injuries.

I hope you are right about RS. But he currently looks in poor shape (maybe he's a lazy trainer)
Flanders isn't even close to being ready. Hes only 20. This year should be a learning and bulking and toughing up year for him. We need more hardness in the forwards. Not a young lad who looked like it when he came on

Jags by a few.

By a lot (20 plus_. I just hope the Canes can stay within 30 points. Its a tough trip with a fairly weak forward pack.
I expect two losses and just hope the team can sort things out when they return. To take on the Sunwolves

Somehow I think we will bounce back. Maybe not win, but I don't think it will be a blowout like the last game.
I'm not going to judge this Canes team too much until we are further into the season. They have by far the toughest start to a campaign of any Kiwi side and they have been dealt a few hefty blows during the offseason. I think the ship will steady, I just hope it does sooner rather than later.

Fingers crossed! And super tripple crossed for Aride's early return.

@Machpants We need our other captain on the field aswell.

@Winger you obviously look at at game in a very different light..I thought the biggest issue with the Canes last weekend lay right in the hands of the seniors players, the men in key positions ,TJ,Fletcher Smith and Jordie Barrett were all very poor in my book, and these are the guys who have super rugby experience..as Vaea Fifita , he did the rest of his pack absolutely no favours what so ever when he was yellow carded , especially at scrum time, as for Amua, he might have a great all round game with ball in hand , but in terms of scrummaging he ranks no3 behind your other 2 hookers, not to mention his throwing in which I have to say is rather wayward ..and let’s not forget, they were up against an experienced springbok front row..
Both Rakete Stones and Mafileo were making their debuts, ones 22 and the other is 21..as for Flanders , I think he has X factor big time, personally I would be playing him ahead of Princep ...
I would have Leawera Walker starting as well, simply because he offers more bulk.
You may not like the options they have available , but it’s fair to say, many of these youngsters played their way in on a Mitre 10 cup form.. -
Jaguares
1 Mayco Vivas, 2 Julián Montoya, 3 Santiago Medrano, 4 Guido Petti, 5 Lucas Paulos, 6 Francisco Gorrisen, 7 Marcos Kremer, 8 Rodrigo Bruni, 9 Tomás Cubelli, 10 Domingo Miotti, 11 Emiliano Boffelli, 12 Jerónimo de la Fuente (c), 13 Matías Moroni, 14 Sebastián Cancelliere, 15 Santiago CarrerasReserves: 16 Agustín Creevy, 17 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro, 18 Joel Sclavi, 19 Javier Ortega Desio, 20 Tomás Lezana, 21 Gonzalo Bertranou, 22 Tomás Albornoz, 23 Santiago Chocobares
.
Four changes have been made to the Jaguares' starting XV, compared to last week's game against the Lions.
Rodrigo Bruni starts at no. 8 instead of Tomás Lezana, who moves to the bench.
The other three changes - in the backs - are forced by injury: Domingo Miotti will start instead of Joaquín Díaz Bonilla (hip injury); captain Jerónimo De la Fuente returns from injury and replaces Juan Cruz Mallía (concussion?); wing Sebastián Cancelliere will take the place of Baptist Delguy.
Gonzalo Bertranou has recovered from a shoulder injury and takes place on the bench.
Emiliano Boffelli will play his 50th game for the Jaguares.
Tomás Albornoz and Santiago Chocobares will make their debut if/when they come of the bench.
Chocobares, that name makes me think of a bar of chocolate!

Suspect this thread won't be as good as previous years without Jaguares4Real & RancidSnitzel
Who are they?

Walker-Leawere is starting and Devan Flanders has come onto the bench.
Walker is paying like an idiot. Jordie 1m off the longest successful penalty ever in Union

@Machpants settle down champ. He’s actually provided much needed go forward so far in this game that we are lacking last week.
