Stormers v Hurricanes (Round 1)
-
I don’t think things will be getting much better with this coaching staff either. They are all out of their league. The Canes are just a rabble at the moment.
-
I think this is one you just flush down the toilet .i did not think for a moment the Canes would win this game , but they have been the masters of their own demise ..
-
Hopefully it has the same effect as the Brumbies game in 2016.
-
You're being far too kind Canes were pathethic Their Mitre 10 Pack got dismantled Smith was who he thought he was TJP spent his time shooting his mouth off instead of dealing with his teams moronic discipline
Canes play Jaguares in BA next week They better bring it as Jags are a superior team to Stormers They're in danger of not making Playoffs if their pack get embarrassed like that many more times
Credit to Kirifi who was superb in a losing effort Without Ardie & IWL Canes have a club side pack

@Stargazer the crazy thing , for all the Stormers Springbok personal , a one man advantage for 20 minutes , I have not been that impressed with them , yes they have bashed the hell out of the canes, but their attack has been very clumsy
That's the Stormers M.O. Don't create much in general play Depend on individual brilliance from likes of Willemse/Leyds/Jantjes
Stormers punished Canes mistakes & dominated Set piece
This game is more a reflection of Canes and how loss & timing of Plumtree's departure could derail their season Especially as Plum's expertise is is the pack
-
@macandcheese the problem for the Stormers, once they play the better teams that won’t be bullied , their MO won’t ge good enough ..I thought the Canes made them look way better than what they were, a really good team would have punished the Canes for their 2nd half effort...was really disappointed with TJ and Jordie , you really need your seniors to stand up and have clear heads, in the case of TJ he lost the plot, easy to blame people around you , but when your own basics are letting you down , no one else to blame but yourself , looked like he was trying to play the game on his own..

That's the biggest issue. Hopeless coaching staff. Plumtree liked hopeless plodders like Blackwell and Princep (and Fletcher) but he had the ability to get the best out of plodders like this.
But its goes back to the Board and management who appointed these dudes. Just look at the Canes website. The player information isn't up to date FFS. These reflects an ineptness that is a concern as a Canes fan. The rot is at the top and its now flowed downwards. And it will get worse if not addressed as the best players will move on.

I'd agreed with you last year They had best pack in SR, dominated Crusaders in CT Yet they finished bottom of SA Conf
This year, here's a list of key forwards teams have lost:
Saders: Reid, Whitelock, Franks, Todd
Chiefs: Retallick
Landers: Franklin, Hemepo, L Whitelock, Squire
Blues: LOL
Bulls: Brits, RG Synman, Lood de Jager, Vermulean
Sharks: Du Preez Twins, Beast, Coenie, Botha, Vermulean
Lions: Marx, Whiteley
Jaguares: Matera, LavaninniHence Stormers have a greater margin of error if Plan A doesn't work as their rivals are much weaker up front I can see Stormers making it to semi finals
Jaguares & Stormers in 2 horse to win SA Conf Very contrasting sides

Great win for the Stormers. Herschel Jantjies, Jaco Coetzee and PSdT play well.
Hurricanes rush defence worked well.

Omg , bought down from red to yellow , WTF , it should not have been a penalty in my book , just a bloody good hit
Particularly when just a few minutes later a Stormer had what was an even higher tackle completely overlooked. Will try and work out how to post a screen shot of the replay later.

Stormers look like they could be real contenders with a monster pack and class halves.
Canes - where do you begin. Yikes. Their strike players saw next to no ball. I think they would be better off running Jordie at 10 but it won't matter much if the pack doesn't show up.

Its one of the weakness forward pack I can remember. Where to begin? Maybe stop selecting rubbish players when there are other options

Finally this late tackle on Kolisi by Riccitellli was disgraceful Late hit to the knee I'd ban the fluffybunny for 2 weeks
Err ... I think you may be overstating the issue.
-
@booboo Yeah, doesn't meet the red-card-threshold. Late, and arguably a shoulder charge (he doesn't seem to use his arms), but it was low, so never more than yellow. Would need to see it at full speed again to see whether it was worth a yellow.
