[Poll] Who would you prefer to win?

@Victor-Meldrew said in [Poll] Who would you prefer to win?:
Bokke.
Think Rassie's done a great job and the Boks in many ways represent what's good about the sport.
If England win, it'll add credence to the Eddie Jones "disrespect the opposition as much as possible" school of management.
Whilst I agree with your first point of view, I struggle to see the second.

I don't mind the English team. The cliches about them and their supporters are wrong.
However I've always preferred the winner to come from the tri nations countries
I agree with the first part.
When the Springboks play I always support the other team, even the Wallabies. It’s ingrained into my psyche that they are dirty, cheating behemoths that don’t know how to really play the game that’s played in heaven.
They are Collingwood, Arsenal, Perth Wildcats, Dallas Cowboys, Phil Mikkelson all rolled into one....
I'm the complete opposite, it's England who are that team to me. Conversely the Boks are our old enemy and the team we built our rugby on (obviously all of the above applies when we're actually playing them).
I'm like Mehrts, I hate losing to the English, despite never personally losing to them.
But, I never support the Wallabies, when they play England all I can hope for is a draw.

Well suddenly I am "Supporting" England as I really want @JK to get the collect and also a South African at work has bet me a bottle of red and a full Biltong 'steak' that SA wins.
I couldn't turn that down.
Nice bet to win Hooroo!

The Boks ... it's not even close.
England ... it's not even close.

England. Hopefully playing a bit of rugby.
Is that unusual for a Welshman Mike?

I'm the same. Boks are traditional foe, the only country who cares as much as we do about rugby.

I agree I struggle to support either team, but for @JK I want England to win, as that was/ is a sensational bet

What do you give up if the Boks win?The exact same. I am actually hoping I lose the bet. There is a great South African shop in Tauranga that does amazing droerwors (sp) and biltong that isn’t too dry. I go once a week.

Glad to see Saffer haute cuisine is spreading into your part of the world
On a related note - I went to visit my sister in NZ (she has been a kiwi for a long time now) late last year and asked if she wanted me to bring any biltong etc. She informed me there are so many South African shops around, she is missing nothing. In fact, on my visit, she supplied the biltong!

I was going for the Boks but watching there supporters carrying on like tossers turned me to the Poms
Hobsons choice there, all sides supporters have a decent percentage of clowns.

Yeah, we do have some Bok supporters that I wish would rather find another sport / country to support.
But to be fair, I genuinely don't think they are the majority.
Nor do I think the Boks have a monopoly on this sort of fan.Just depends on who you are lucky / unlucky enough to bump into.
Unlucky for you blokes, you get me, and @Smuts and @SidBarret
But I can assure you there some decent Bok fans out there -
It would be wonderful for Erasmus to pull an Eddieesque master stroke and run at England all night.
They have the personnel and the skills.

i think i want to support the saffas cause they love rugby
then i watch the rugby they play, and i think... actually, maybe they hate rugby
then i think i want to support the poms, cause at least they occasionally pass/run
then i remember the cricket, and i see owen farrell's face, his shoulder charges and his dive from a forehead push.
then i see faf's face, and him shoving opposing halfbacks immediately after they put the ball into a scrum.it's lose/lose, there's no way around it. best case scenario is the boks winning via some shit technicality which they shouldn't be able to feel good about (but will anyway) and the poms cop some karma from the boundary countback debacle. i'm thinking a couple of controversial red cards as World Rugby try to show that they haven't given a directive to refs to fuck over the pool games then ignore the knockouts with cards, then double extra time followed by a 13 players each goal-kicking contest which the poms lose because a random gust of wind blows an english flag into the ball, knocking it off the tee as that cockhead marler lines up his game-winning shot.
