Not sure what the currency exchange is like in Georgia but I'll bet the NZRFU gets more out of Murrayfield?

IIRC there is no revenue sharing arrangement on the EOYTs. That has been the longstanding argument from Tew and co.

Scotland aren't exactly a marquee game.

I thought that was the case too . So they are effectively a complete waste of time and effort to the NZRU

Yep. Those tractor parts are looking more attractive all the time. πŸ™‚

Especially is they are Massey ferg parts

Yeah. Ireland will be very tough so best to avoid them. We should beat either Scotland or Japan comfortably enough.

    That's pussy talk

I spent a lot of money to attend that game. As much as I'm confident we'd beat the paddies I would prefer not to chance it. Besides, a Japan/Scotland, England, SA path to the final would be more desirable

@canefan better to beat Ireland in the 1/4 than chance losing to them in the final πŸ˜‰

They have the pressure of never getting past the next round, but if they built and made the final I reckon they'd be more dangerous.

Long term forecast is for over 50 mm of rain. Don't want to be playing a team like Ireland on a day like that.

The number 1 key to beating Ireland is defensive discipline. Of which Samoa has zero in the first half. Make Ireland gain territory rather than handing it to them on a penalty platter.

I'd like to take the easier path to the big game, if we are good enough I'll take our chances against anybody in the final.

I take a different view - I reckon they'll play their final in a QF against. That's why they will be so dangerous and why I reckon they won't be able to get up again a week later and instead will bomb out.

I honestly dont care who we play along the way, want to be the best (again) have to beat the best.

I think squadwise, we are still well placed to go 3 tough games on the trot, England are probably in a similar position now too, and if I was worried about anyone right now, it'd be them, not sure other teams have the depth to have 3 tough ones.

@akan004 Ok so that's the ruling...great...Come on Scotland..I nice win by 8 would do the trick.

Either Scotland or Japan in the quarter would be fine, preferably Japan for me.

Just my 2 cents worth, bring on Ireland.

I know that there's possibly a joke of some sort to be made here about being unable to differentiate between a pussy and a cock, but after passing on an earlier opportunity to caption the flooded tunnel footage from Japan's training session ("...so THAT's why that call it a pool game"). I no longer trust my judgment.

@Snowy @jegga I do wonder though that if it was say England or NZ that needed to play to qualify whether or not the outcome from World Rugby would have been different. I'd like to think not, but I'm not so sure. Now this is not a dig and either team, more taking a view on the commercial decision that World Rugby might have taken.

It would have been exactly the same.

Any NZ team that had been thrashed in a pool match before playing the unbeaten leader of the pool would be considered so useless that they got what they deserved. World Rugby would delight -- positively with delight -- in stiffing us. Taking the ABs out early in any tournament would vastly increase the interest from the neutrals to each succeeding match, as everyone would think they could pull it off.

And England have no Aura, so it isn't an issue.

I guess you missed the bit saying it wasn’t a dig at either? πŸ™„

It’s a very different atmosphere to the AB/SA game! Beer? No line. Merchandise? Huuuuuuuge line.

    Anyone else here? I’m buying!

Good point Gregan just made, that Japan would have targeted this game from as soon as the draw was known. The Ireland win was a massive extra obvs, but they would have done a lot of homework on this

I still have Scotland by 5
