    35-3 FT. Good effort from the Tongans, and also a good hitout for the English.

    Did anyone find England's performance convincing?
    I know they did the minimum required at this stage, but they made a lot of mistakes. I expected more from them.

    @Stargazer
    Considering the opposition, no. They would have been aiming for a BP win so to not score a try in the first 25 is pretty poor.

    @Stargazer Of course they weren't convincing, but it doesn't matter. You learn more out of a contest like this instead of looking like rockstars and putting on a cricket score.

    I think England will be pretty damn happy.

    Kept the opposition to just the penalty, didn't even look like scoring a try.

    No injuries.

    Dry Powder.

    Bonus point win.

    Are you Eddie's speechwriter?

    Even worse, it seems I'm Clive's 😣

    Of all the "big" teams to have played so far, they seem to have adapted to the conditions the least - looked tired, sloppy passing, lots of dropped balls

    Isn't that what you usually aim for against the tier 2 teams that often come out firing? Absorb what they throw at ya in the first 20, then enforce your game.

    NZ were probably not very convincing 4 years ago judging by some comments...

    They didn't lose the cup today. Forwards were industrious but if you nullify Tuilagi their backs might struggle. Not convincing, the games vs france and Argentina will be interesting

    @Bones
    Got their BP try in the 76th minute, I'm sure they would have preferred to not cut it so fine.

    Tonga were vastly improved from Hamilton

    I’m sure they would’ve preferred Tonga to roll over in the first half too....

    I think some read way too much into things. They got the win and in a pool where it’s a genuine 3 horse race, they got a bonus point without cards, citings and injuries. All ticks in my book.

    Fuggen itv. Instead of doing something on the results, how teams are playing, good analysis, etc.....they're doing a segment on high tackles and seemingly trying to generate controversy. Rubbish TV.

    @Bones Yes people get caught up too much on how these teams look in fixtures like this, trying to use triangle theories as a marker when they mean shit.

    Now is NOT the time to be peaking in this tournament.

    Ok result, BP, no cards or injuries. So good there. Performance less so. Eddie still tinkering with his selection does not help, probably one of the reasons we looked a bit lost in attack.

    It wasn't just a take the win and flush the dunny situation as there is a very real possibility it comes down to BPs in their pool.

    Dry powder and drier rust.

    Tonga didn't look threatening until minute 83. Otherwise they just played field position and whack-a-pom.

    Some fucking classic hits in there, too.

    Scrum battle was good. Still think Big Ben could shed 10kg and be more effective around the park.

    Willie fucking Heinz is their second choice 9? Jeez...

    There are a few journeymen in this English team, or at least not worldclass. Billy Vunipola was very quiet and looked very slow. However, Tuilagi is a real threat for the opposition's defence. He's a beast. But he seems to be the only weapon in England's arsenal as far as backs are concerned.

    May is a fine winger IMO.
