Wonder how this impacts NZRs bank balance...money's from Soop tv rights already paid?
-
Well Beauden's break just got a hell of a lot longer!!
-
This will no doubt have major financial implications. How do gate tackings, food etc get distributed at the moment? Do the franchises collect that revenue? Do they lease the stadiums and have to pay regardless. Do NZR pay the wages regardless if the players play? Does Sky etc get some sort of refund if SANZAAR cannot deliver the games? Plenty of questions.

@canefan Have to see how that unfolds - but, if we go a couple of weeks without any outbreak in the general population, then maybe we've got lucky and can return to a bit of normality - but otherwise, I can watch footy on the TV pretty happily without the crowd.
They can have a DJ playing music at pretty much every break - especially for Rapido's benefit!

That will be OK for the domestic market. As far as opening up internationally, we need to depend on the fact that other countries are taking steps to reduce risk

@canefan Can't see things opening up internationally in the immediate future, so I think an NZ Mini-Series is the answer.
Two games per week (one bye) - everyone plays everyone (maybe across two rounds) - top two teams play a final.
That would be 11 weeks and give Sky something to televise.

Only possible until a player tests positive. Then hwo do you continue it?
This looks like it's going to have some real legs I fear

It could be good for the NZRU if they could sell that overseas if no international sport is on.
