    So go England?

Surely better off playing a side that hasn't been there, done that before? Would be bloody nice to beat Aus in the final though...

Fair point but do you want to be playing the home side who happen to be the top ranked team also...?

@Bovidae nope I reckon we are a better chance against Aus. More familiar opposition and we know our bowling plans work against them. Just a matter of getting our batting right (tough ask but at least we know what we need to do)

Whoever it is they will know we have massive confidence going in. Against the odds, defended a relatively low score, the Kane and Taylor factor, the Boult factor, our fielding. We have a few chinks in the armour no doubt, but we sent a loud message to the other two sides today.

Of any team in world cricket, I reckon home ground advantage would probably be least in favour of England.

Perhaps but I reckon there’s a bit of the “destiny” factor about England if we play them in a World Cup final. For mine, it’s better the devil you know - we play Aus lots, have plans that work against them and, in particular, we know they work at Lord’s

@junior fair enough. In world cups, we've beaten them 5 times and lost 4. We've beaten Aus 3 times and lost 8....

@Bones completely understandable but you need to look at this England team in isolation as they are completely un-England-like. So, I reckon there’s little we can draw on from past experiences against them, whereas we have a good enough body of work against Aus - both historically and recently - to feel more confident about playing Aus

And then they cheat to win. Perfect ploy, nobody would be expecting it!

Really glad both teams had the full 50...of course, had we been the beneficiaries of DLS I wouldn't have minded too much.

I posted my mea culpa earlier, calling for the return of Munro on the same logic.

    Wow, cricket!

Amazing moment for NZ cricket and the country as a whole.

Can't help thinking how proud Martin Crowe would be. Today is another part of the great man's legacy:

Went to bed after 20 overs knowing at least there would be a result.

Well done Blackcaps and @Baron-Silas-Greenback for being bang on the money.

had to go to bed , up early this morning ,

    What a great result,

We may never have the best cricket team in the world, but they do fight above their weight probably better than anyone .

Shaun graf ( ex aussie international, now runs victoria cricket ) actually said that to me

Obviously a fern fan. He read all Barons helpful pointers and criticisms and applied them.

Shane Warne made an interesting point. Thinks that the experience NZ got from being in the last CWC will count for a lot.

Far more players stepped up to the mark in this game than in previous games - hopefully a good omen.
