Ive seen both Goosen and Lam play FB for Wellington. Both are better than Tiatia by some distance. And Aso's not a center. But I suspect you may be right. Reflecting the limited coaching at the Canes
Some other points
Barrett is listed at 2nd 5 on the website
Players are still missingFFS. If they can't get a simple thing like this completed to a high standard less than a week before kickoff. What else is being done poorly. Maybe player management = lots of injuries year after year
-
@Winger you are right they have played there for Wellington but I wouldn’t consider them Super level fullbacks by any stretch. Billy Proctor also spent a lot of time there for Wellington this year so they may even chuck the jersey to him.
I’m thinking they will want to start the season strongly so I’m actually picking Barrett to start there anyway. Don’t forget the Laumape/Aso combo lit up the tournament a few years ago when they had a long run together in the centres. On offence they are sublime, it’s the defensive side of the ball that they will need to improve dramatically.

In the Blues v Chiefs thread, Fletcher Smith is called a journey man. To stay with the literal meaning of the word (although - on the Fern - it's more often than not used as a word for players that posters don't rate, and therefore subjective), below is an article that sheds some light on why/how he ended up with the Canes.
A lot of Fletcher Smith's journeying is due to his parents moving, attending school and uni. And, apparently, Jason Holland.

Just read in an article on stuff that mentioned
kane leaupepe has a long term injury the article didn’t specify what it was and google isn’t saying anything...looks like Blackwell’s going to be a starter for the long term. That bad news reopens a spot for the much touted seven foot three South African lock that we have been awaiting.

Strong All Blacks core?? They named two reserve All Blacks and a couple of fringe players.
Not to mention JGB and a guy who did not even have a contract a couple of weeks ago, the mind immediately springs back to Sveu Reece. The latter (Mafileo) may turn out to be a better prop than the five Super Rugby selection panels initially suspected, only time will tell there I guess.

Hurricanes Away jersey
adidas has today unveiled the alternate jerseys for all five New Zealand Investec Super Rugby sides for the highly anticipated 2020 season. From material to design, the jerseys have been crafted to reflect and honour the natural environments of each team. All 5 jerseys are part of the new adidas PRIMEBLUE range – made with Parley Ocean Plastic, which is recycled plastic waste intercepted from beaches and coastal communities before it reaches the oceans. As part of its ongoing mission to end plastic waste, adidas has committed to shift entirely to recycled polyester by 2024. To inspire rugby fans to join the movement, the designs of each teams alternate jersey features aquatic-style patterns and nods to the teams’ local environments: • The Hurricanes jersey features a hand drawn graphic which references the abundant wind resources in the area including 390 wind turbines with water born graphics.

Meh, pretty ugly imo. And plain!
-
@Paekakboyz Yeah, I don't like any of the away jerseys. I know the colours fit the water/ocean/natural environment theme, but they look boring. I don't mind the pattern.

Being one to never miss an opportunity to be pedantic ...
... the actual meaning of the word "journeyman" is a person who is still learning their trade. It was the stage between Apprentice and Master.
It has nothing to do with travel.
So describing someone who is of average ability as a journeyman (not a journey man) is pretty close to the proper useof the word.
Primary school "learnings".

I’ve heard from a close source that the Canes have their eye on Sopoaga for next season. If true, I’m not too sure what to make of it.

@Stargazer manage to find any video highlights?

He has been really, really bad for Wasps. Doesn't even seem to be selected on their bench now.
Sops'll need to sort his attitude and performance out to be Super Rugby standard again.
