FYI - there is ball by ball commentary of the Engand v India test series on SENZ, for the insomniacs and night shift workers.
Nice. You know it never even occurred to me anymore to even think was likely and scan the dial.

it's great - listened to the first half hour the other night. A pleasant surprise. I love cricket on the wireless... feels timeless

Bangladesh has just beaten Australia 4-1 in a T20 series. In the last game Bangladesh scored 122-8 then bowled Oz out for 62 in 13.4 overs!
-
@daffy-jaffy they've been dominant all series. But man, it's been hard batting - 6 an over is good going over there. Ball turning heaps I presume - I saw a bit of one last weekend.

Woah. Great start to the new WTC cycle for almost everyone. (except the 2 who played)
England and India docked two WTC points apiece for slow over rates during the first Test in Nottingham.
The teams now take two points each out of the Test match, instead of the four they would normally get for a draw under the new points system for the 2021-23 WTC cycle.
-
@delicatessen from memory, the umpires make a report to the match referee that takes into account the batsmen and any other reasons why the bowling team might not have been able to keep up with the over rate and the referee then makes a final decision on what action to take.

My issue with the Hundred is that they invented a completely new format of cricket out of thin air for the sole reason of shortening a T20 to fit within a broadcasting window. T20 was originally designed to be over in two and a half hours but it just got slower and slower and slower.
By checking back on scorecards, for the original T20 international between NZ and Aus, the NZ innings was over in under 70 minutes. With a 10 minute break, the game slotted into 2.5 hours. For a recent T20 international, an innings was over 100 minutes. That means a game would struggle to complete in under 3.5 hours. How did teams get away with it?

Youtube video of the above comment by Mikedogz. Absolute gold from Jarvo.

Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales steer the West Indies home by one wicket.
that was a cracking finish. Almost fell over chasing 168. 3/84 quickly becomes 7/114. WEll done to the last wicket pair to get them over the line. Amusingly, the key scoring shot in the 17 run stand was a 4 between first slip and keeper! Not sure if 1st was standing wide, but that's cruel for the bowler.
Low scoring tests are better than high scoring tests.

I like variety so tense low scoring games where the bowlers improve their career stats are great.
In saying that it’s also fun checking in when a team have scored hundreds of runs and not lost any wickets.

What an amazing final day in England. I love test cricket.
Not so good for an England fan though! The rubbish field placings and negative cricket England played early on today was tedious in the extreme and let India back into the game. We pretty much lost the game in the first session today. Abject but well played India.

@catogrande What happened - 8 down with a lead of only 180, England had that game in their hands. Although take Root out of that batting order and they will lose every game at the moment.
