Really didn’t anticipate that news about Read. Still in a state of shock.

Wasn’t moaning. You need to rattle some bones, Bones, and adjust your black humour radar.

@ShadowTrooper and even less travel time than Europe would offer, which is much less by comparison to here.
Dollars (or Yen) aside, much less time away from home for those with young families must be a HUGE carrot, expect in Japan, the times worked woudl almost be like a normal 9-5

I imagine it's a vastly different culture though...which I guess might be an attraction for those guys that have slogged for 10+ years day in/out in the same environment.

@Bones Cory Jane was saying, in Japan it is very much what the coaches want you to do, and players dont really contribute a great deal, although you'd expect with the influx of foreigners this would change a bit?
He might find it nice to just sit back and follow the other leaders!

possibly, although he did say in a RS interview last night post-rugby he might look at doing somethign with his leadership skills, so get the impression he likes being at the forefront of things.

Spot on. It's always a good idea for the privileged to get an idea about how the less fortunate live.

@Bones This was the section of interest:
"Everyone makes different choices and what's right for them at the time and [for] Jackson that's right for him and his family," said Smith, who will join French club Pau after the Rugby World Cup. "I know from the Highlanders point of view they wish him all the best. "Jax still has a few more years in him so you never know. "Obviously in our squad there's been guys that have gone over the Japan and come back for the Highlanders at some point, he still young enough to do that."
