If that is the case Plummer needs some time running the cutter against Aussie. We need to take stock now

@family-man probably why Leon McDonald's bailed out.

100% if we are going to build depth we need to start giving guys minutes instead of persisting with players that are unlikely to feature at the next WC.

A few scrappy minutes here and there doesn't count either. Look at Rassie, he's giving his squad serious minutes and will reap the rewards

@family-man DMac not going on the EOYT then. Wonder if that means Mo’unga is on his way back for 2025.
I find it funny that a player that failed to win two World Cups is all of a sudden going to be our savior.
Its Ruby Love time.

The AB coach and NZRU have made it clear that they want Mo’unga back.
You can see why Dmac would look overseas. If I were him and knew I was inline to be 2nd choice, at his age I’d go cash in too. Essentially that’s what it seems Mo’unga has been able to do - get at least two high paying years overseas and seemingly hold his position in the ABs by default.

He hardly holds it by default. Fact is the guy who has stepped into replace him hasn't stepped up enough to claim the jersey.

I think that’s fair. But if everyone knows he’s only holding it by default, I’m not sure that inspires confidence.
What I can say with 100% confidence is that I was at the WC final, and the Boks dealt with Mo’unga with relative ease - once Dmac came on and started using his direct play and passing they were having kittens. Despite the poor kicking by others and the RC, I maintain that if they’d brought Dmac on earlier we would have got home. His passing is the key to unlocking a rush D and we should be designing our attack around it.

That doesn't mean they don't back McKenzie though. There is quite literally no other players in the country even close to an international level first five right now.
Fact is, we are a DMac injury away from having BB back at 10, with Harry Plummer as his back up.

while I agree there aren't any options really outside Dmac if they don't give them a chance over next year or so we will never see if they have it. there are a few young fellas coming through without chasing I guy who has never really owned the poistion

Remaining tests this year where we can give a young fella coming thru a chance
?Bledisloe 2 if the first test is won easily
Japan
ItalyThat’s it. Everything else is bledisloe 1, France in Paris, England at twickenham, Ireland at Dublin.

Yup social media too. They're the darlings of NZ rugby.

Just been told Damian McKenzie is going to be playing for La Rochelle
Is there any update on this or is it just another one of the pathetic takes appearing between test matches, trying to undermine some AB players and promote others. Can't believe the crap 'articles' I am seeing on planet rugby and fb in recent weeks. I traced a few back to source and found they came out of South Africa. What intrigues me is whether there is any orchestration to this. Some folk really do have it in for Sam Cane it seems...
In my view NZ Rugby have caused this situation with their reluctance in providing decent content to media this year. So folks swoop on the sensationalist opinion pieces.
The big danger is that this forms subliminal views in the minds of match officials. What do others think? -
