@Canes4life Ryan disagrees. He was the forwards selector that had him starting for the AB XV. Take out two senior locks.. I think it’s likely he makes it because of the selectors history
-
@Duluth and there’s guys like Caleb Delany who have been consistently putting out strong performances over the past two years who will likely get overlooked. If we pick guys like Strange, the ABs won’t improve. Strange should be dominating at this stage of his career, especially after learning from Whitelock for so long. He doesn’t have a high ceiling unfortunately, will be a shit selection if he does get picked.

I am hoping some of those selections were a short term thing, where Ryan was given a job to do in a short time span so he brought in players he knew and believed could do a job for him. Hopefully with more time to work with players from other areas things will be different. Hopefully.

@cgrant that’s lame. He’s very solid for the Canes on that right edge and has formed a balanced back three combination with Naholo and Love. Not many good wingers running around in NZ atm so hopefully your source is off the mark.

Huh? Wing is more stacked than any other position, maybe equal with prop.
-
@Bones just to clarify I meant from a depth POV. You obviously have your top tier wingers in the likes of Telea, Narawa and Reece, but when guys like Moorby leave at a young age it’s more damaging these days than it used to be. Just look at the Saders having to recruit Morland and McNicholl. The depth just isn’t there anymore.
-
@Canes4life I don't know what pov you could otherwise mean. Every back 3 bar the crusaders is brilliant - and the crusaders have one of the best, just not the rest.
-
@Bones I’m just saying when teams start to lose their top line wingers atm it seems like the underbelly of quality depth isn’t there to choose from like it used to be. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like New Zealand used to have so much more talent to pick from when they were going through an injury crisis. Now teams are forced to call on dinosaurs as injury replacements I.e the Saders. If we keep losing players that are bumbling under the surface of international rugby so to speak we are going to be left with a bunch of ‘really good’ players and then ‘really poor’ players backing them up.
