AB EOYT 2018

@gt12 In all honesty, @Steven-Harris post in tandem with the info the magpie in aus posted about his Dunedin trip rings pretty true.
When you watch Akira, you don't see a hell of a lot missing from his game. There's far more raw people been picked for the ABs, including in the loose forwards.
I don't really buy the "better off in the Maori" explanation. Akira's played a heap of rugby this year with a heap of opportunities to work on his KPIs.

Luke Whitelock the worst selection of the year? Give me a break....he's performed very well in black - and Nehe says hi.
I'm thinking of when? Was it when he looked very average and had no physical impact against that tier-2 team France?
Yes bingo, when he dominated stats and had a very physical impact against tier-1 France.
...and DMac looked a million bucks at 10 against France at the end of their long season. What a great marker that is.....
Why isn't it? Because it doesn't suit certain peoples narratives? Has DMac looked a failure at 10 since?
That 3rd test DMac had everything perfectly lined up to suit his strengths - a dead rubber last rugby game of the season for the French players under the roof (i.e. fast paced footy). Just slightly different scenario to say when Mo'unga came on at 10 for the ABs in Pretoria
As for your second question I believe since that French test in Dunedin DMac went on to have a shocking quarter final against the Canes playing at 10.... so yes.

Anyone else bored with the Akira stuff?
He’s not selected for the umpteenth time, we know people don’t understand, but there’s only so many vitriolic posts before it becomes...repetitive.

So for completeness, a starting XV
Moody
Taylor
Franks
Romano
Whitelock
S. Barrett
Todd
Read
Hall
Mo’unga
Bridge
Crotty
Goodhue
Havili

@billy-tell I think the musing about what the ABs are willing to comment on is on the money re Akira. Something isnt stacking up behind the scenes but they are focusing on his vague areas for improvement and how they frame who he's competing against. But that's wearing thin, and is a big talking point imo when he misses out on a bumper squad like this.

Akira. Take the money and move to Europe. If these useless bastards don’t understand your talents move on. So a retread like Matt Todd at the age of 30 is more valuable? Fuck me.

Where’s Oprah when we need her - everyone gets a go!
I suspect Akira will be with the ABs not the Maori unless he is named Maori captain.
Any word on the Maori squad?

Fox: Akira is making gains and strides, it's better for him to play and display his improvements while playing. He still has some things he needs to improve to be an international number 8. He's a bit like Vaea, in that we left him out and wanted to see him play at 6 - we want to see Akira play and show his improvement. We're very open minded, and not shutting the door on players etc.
