How disappointed all those NH scribes must be!
How many columns have had to be rewritten or binned ...
Watched the game with the Saffa commentators audio (who are actually very, very good) as Sky had the appalling Miles Harrison and Barnes doing the match.
Wish I'd switched over to Sky for the last 20 minutes now....
Not sure really what you watched. I can't remember any of the commentary as being either good or bad ... which, like a ref, is usually a good sign.

Normally I don't actually mind listening to Barnes but he was really rubbing one out as the Springboks got to 30 points...and he'd been more than usually strident from minute one, enough to make me mute him. TBH I'd about given up on the ABs for this game, because they were unable to get any cohesion going and almost no ball.

Sounds like I should just fast forward the first half..! -

@majorrage Miles Harrison is so bad he's almost become self-parody.
Stuart Barnes is OK, but nowhere near as incisive as say Martin Bayfield or Joel Stransky. TBF, he's better than Jonathan Davies whose sole input to any game is "space out wide..., space out wide"....

I'm waiting for the 9 am replay. Oh, that's right.
A role reversal from Wellington when all the stats favoured the ABs but they lost.
As mentioned great impact from the bench, Ardie especially, but there are concerns that will need to be addressed. Franks looks old and slower to me. I don't think he's going to be any better in 2019.

Smith's deliberate pass at an SA player to milk a penalty was the low point of the game. He was so bad today.
Not my preferred option (use the space), and I hate that kind of cynicism, but it should have been a penalty. And maybe YC. The guy was offside preventing our attack.
If we base it solely on that game some of the second stringers are pushing for starts. TJP over Smith being one of them.

Happy that Gus ignored that but what about the SA player (Louw?) who played the ball on the ground at the next ruck?

Nah, the Boks outplayed us for 70 minutes and are obviously improving. Great to see them so competitive against us rather than the shellackings they've got over the last few years.
Love the rivalry and respect, and the way the 2 teams mingle after the game.
That is humilitae in action I believe, Sir Stephen insisting on best public relations practice to fool the con men of the ever critical media.
He had the players show acceptable respect at the beginning by presenting the highest level of Haka (See the discussion earlier in the thread. They have created a monster for themselves there ... the players cannot be allowed to decide what suits them best all by themselves, they must satisfy a vacuous media which determines if the Haka they use is evidence that they are demonstrating proper 'spect) and now he cunningly follows up by cleverly camouflaging All Black arrogance with humilitae!
It is a distorted environment - I know, I know - you just cannot have a winner celebrating a triumph by appearing triumphal in full view of l'il kiddies on family television, because it is a form of bullying or deep seated racism or disbelieving wymminses when they say stuff about blokes or something.
But do not despair - I see booboo was onto the most important bit which the detractors have not noticed, just up the page there 39 minutes ago:
"Fuck you world rugby.
Aura is back baby" -
Funny that Hansen had anticipated a Bok kicking game in Wellington by putting Jodie Barrett at fullback and Bender on the right wing. But the Boks played a ball-in-hand game. So Hansen brings Naholo back in Pretoria and the Boks kick for the corners.
I like the late second half backline with BB at the back, Ben Smith on the wing and Mounga at 10. What an iceman the latter is. Feels more solid with him there. Less highwire, which in those sorts of games is what you need.

Spare a thought for those that were timing the tissue grab for the final whistle and couldn’t finish

That one is going to take some time to swallow. Congrats boys - pretty impressive to come back and win that one.
Cheers, but as I said to the saffa next to me at the pub, that was no impressive comeback, it was a lucky kick followed by a try that was hardly clinical.
I accepted the win but would have been as happy if the conversion missed. We didn’t deserve it. -
People upset with defence but it kept us in game. Our issue was attack and our lack of accuracy and inability to crete space until the end this constantly meant we were on defence. Maybe we needed to just get over gainline straight away with naholo/Ioane, also think that Barrett could run of first phase more.
we lacked forward ball runners without BBBR and squire, our best options in that game were Taylor and then Savea when he came on.
The issue for SA moving forward is that they can get up for NZ but can they for other nations i.e Argentina and Aussie. be interesting to see how they go vs NH
