This guy would be fun
Speaking of
Meanwhile the team is taking a safety first approach:
"I think you can’t really think about it as if you need to do something or you need to win a game or you need to come on and do something miraculous," he said.
"That’s what we’ve tried to focus on this week, not pushing those passes, just being able to stick to our structures, get through them and knowing that we’ll get them with our game plan and not just trying to come up with those little offloads to win the game, and stuff like that.
"Obviously the X-factor helps in all that sort of stuff but it’s just sticking to our structure for the full 80 minutes because that’s what will get them in the end."

It
s amazing how many Ozzie, and quasi-Ozzie, sport commentators hark back to using methods and/or coaches of the Wallabies golden Era. Times have really, REALLY changed - it's best to move on. The articles by Lord, et al, on theroar.com.au are full of 'bring back buck' type ideas, from pretty close to that era! -

Richie also used to be a good support runner ,
Due to his non stop running , if someone would make a break he would often bob up in support , receive a pass and move it on quickly to a more dangerous runner
I miss Richie...

It would almost be worth giving him the coaching gig just to see the results of his antiquated methodologies and tactics.
And how many persons of colour he can fit in a woodpile.

Need a big woodpile - he's got a few big persons of colour in the squad already.

Matt, where are you?????????????
Question marks surround the availability of All Blacks flanker Sam Cane for Saturday's Bledisloe Cup clash in Auckland. Dressed in trainers and track suit, Cane played little part in Friday's 'Captain's Run' on Friday, but captain Kieran Read insisted it was simply a "precautionary" measure. "He's just having a day off today," said Read. "At the moment, he's still going to go." If Cane were to be scratched, Ardie Savea would likely slot into the number seven jersey. He would be a huge loss in a breakdown battle where Australia will field champion loose forwards Michael Hooper and David Pocock. It's proved a challenging year for the 26-year-old openside, as he's battled through a host of injuries. Most recently, an abdominal strain saw him miss more than a month of action for the Chiefs, returning in time for the All Blacks' June series against France.

Refer to the 1991-93 Balmain Tigers for an example.

@stargazer just having a day off the day before a test? I guess they are on lighter stuff today anyway anyway?
-
@taniwharugby Hopefully, it's just a bit of a cold (although that can be contagious) and not one of his old injuries making a re-appearance.

I had electroshock therapy to remove that from my memory.

Come on Shag, show some balls and give Dalton Papali'i a bench position or even a start if Cane can't make it. That kid will be a star and it's time to give him a go.
That would definitely take some balls, Gibson missing out when he's the best player in the world would be quite the controversy.

Gibson > Bryn Hall?
I don't think so.

Sorry, should have said - best player in the world outside any North Harbour player.
