Forgive me for intimating we might take a leaf out of AFL books, but surely those crazies have a rule to reduce the carnage which might otherwise result from their marking antics?
I think in AFL and Basketball this would be an ejection. I believe their rules mean if you take out a jumpers legs from under them then it wasn't a realistic jump.
I'm no expert though.
I also believe- If they went shoulder to shoulder and someone fell on their head, by some fluke, then unlike rugby (until the judiciary just turned everything upside down ....) they don't rule on outcome from a fair jump?
I had a quick look at the AFL rulebook and this may be the clause in which it is covered.
A Player makes Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player if the Player: (a) makes contact or attempts to make contact with any part of their body with an opposition Player in a manner likely to cause injury; (i) above the shoulders (including the top of the shoulders); or (ii) below the knees.

That's a nicely worded rule

That’s a truly shit analysis.
What about McKenzie showing that he is a world class 10?
Won’t he long before he overtakes BarrettYou are taking the piss right? Thought McKenzie well and truly showed that hes not a first fives asshole.
Well I don’t really watch rugby but I know talent when I see it. Dmac will start at the World Cup

That, is brilliant. You should really take up sports betting with an astute mind like that.

Couldn't resist a slow mo look at RC.
It seems clear, at least to me, that had Fall done everything the same, other than jumping much higher, no card would have been justified. I don't believe that he wasn't in a position to challenge. The tip over was caused by BB jumping much higher (or Fall much lower) and catching his raised knee on Fall's thigh.
If both players jump high (or low) there is a big collision, but little chance of tip over.
If it had been AFL Fall would have been a foot or two above where he was and unlikely an injury would have resulted.
No idea how one can legislate to ensure both players contesting a high kick jump at roughly similar heights. -
Look on the bright side. Now the law's been clarified, Beaudy, Rieko and Jordie can engineer something, keeping their eyes on the ball and take out Mike Brown at Twickenham in November......

I don't think anything has been clarified, I still expect a red next time someone does that. Unless, maybe, you brush another player within a 5m radius of the catcher?
-
@rapido I dunno, I expect refs will be shit scared of issuing one now for fear of being called out publicly as getting it wrong.
Test 1 Pearce was let down by his TMO & Assistants, this week Gardner has been let down by the Judiciary, who incidentally also played a hand in making a hash of the non-citing and subsequent warning to Ofa as well...what will game 3 turn up.
-
Yep maybe we just stop contesting the ball in the air, and at LOs to make it simpler....oh wait
-
Probably the most egregious outcome over the last two weeks is that Ofa's tackle is now recorded as being
a greaterthe example of foul play out of the two. -

@hooroo it was 1am in California and I had things that day and once it was down to 14 it was history. Why watch a game that was ruined by a red card?
I'm a simple, simple man, @broughie I still have no idea what you're on about. Did I say something about we shouldn't watch games with red cards or something?

@hooroo It was directed at you as you may have started the initial thread. Maybe I need to learn how to post on a thread without referencing someone. I am slow in this regard.
AAhhhh I understand now.
