Not a fan of Veitch, but pretty uncomfortable that after going through the courts for his assault he is now being re-punished by losing jobs.
How did he lose this job due kicking a woman in the spine until he broke it? It looks from the news reports it was his idea to leave and start a new show of his own which I will also avoid like all his previous shows even before his assault charge.

As I've mentioned previously I'm a big fan of George Moala so was fucken disappointed and to be honest gobsmacked that he got away with what he did without a conviction. Contrast that with Zac Guildford who I pretty much couldn't stand for keeping Hosea Gear out of the ABs, I, and plenty of others, were really keen to put the boot in for his extra curricular activities.
I think the thing with Veich is that no one particularly liked him for reasons mentioned before ( smarmy, arrogant fucktard ) so I guess it became easy to have a go. I'm as guilty as any on here for this but I wonder how things would have gone if he were a broadcaster who people actually liked?

Hey @Virgil just wanted to check you're ok.
Has Veitchy given out his new Facebook page, so you don't have long too wait until you can like and share some Aussie bashing smarmy bullshit?
@Virgil hold that thought while I chuck a bag of Act 2into the microwave

I never listened to him so no loss to me. Iāve always referred to Veitch as the hyperactive chipmunk.
He lost me as a listener eons ago when he had the morning spot and Dean Lonergan as a regular guest. As far as I could figure out, Lonergan was there to make unbelievably gross remarks about women and Veitch's job was to chuckle along like Butthead.

I think your confusing me with another Aussie midget lover, I donāt follow his fb page

I'd put him on suicide watch if he isn't already.
I don't like the guy and he should never have been allowed back in to return to broadcasting but I'm not OK with the tweets and stuff. He's gone. Mission accomplished. We don't want to be hearing about how he felt bullied in a tell all a year from now.

Oh, can't see a problem with him losing his job/s. He should never have been let back in the first place. It's not about not being allowed to reform. OK you feel sorry and youre ready to prove it. Good that's all society can ask. However it doesn't mean you should get your old job back. It means you can be a law abiding citizen that keeps his fucken hands to himself and finds work in another area. Outside of the privileged career you threw down the toilet when you broke a women's back, fluffybunny!

I wonder if the fact he never seemed to take responsibility stopped him getting rehabilitated in the public's eye?
Just surmising but I get a sense of the current #MeToo #WarAgainstWomen cultural climate and can imagine that management was concerned at staff & family Christmas parties being repeatedly asked, āGee, with people losing jobs over bum-pinching it does seem pretty incredible Vietchy still has a job after violently putting the boot into his sheila, doncha think?ā Maybe the weight of that question got really-really heavy & tiresome, and management had no good answers.

Is there a good answer?

Wouldn't the answer be - he did lose his job when that happened (multiple jobs in fact) and subsequently went through the court system and it is now 10 years on and NZME believes in rehabilitation and a second chance.
You don't have to agree with it, but there is a coherent argument for it (which is why he has had the gig for the past five years - it's not as if this wasn't discussed at the time he was rehired).
Public sentiment is fickle. If you take the six or seven big cases of this nature in NZ sport over the past decade - and public opinion on a case by case basis is massively inconsistent. The only constant seems to be forgiveness is only available to those the public like.

Can someone point out to me where it says his past history cost him this job?
How he didnāt do time for what he did Iāll never know , quite happy for his sentence to be forever reminded of his behaviour in lieu of jail though.
The fact he didn't do time always showed me that there are two sides to a story, and perhaps not all facts declared in court went public.
You can't avoid jail time for the anti vietches version of what happened. You just can't.

Well actually you can if you're part of NZ sports elite. Numerous recent ABs, young Wellington winger in the incident last year etc.
I guarantee the old 'This will effect the career of NZs top sporting journalist' chestnut came out in his defence.

From the released police report...
āAs a result of the assault the Complainant received a traumatic haematoma, a sprain to the sacroiliac ligament and two fractures to the spine which were causative of an on-going nerve problem.
āResulting muscle loss has caused a physical disfigurement in that area of the back.ā
But 6 other 'male assaults female' charges were dropped.
I'd expect those letters about Veitch's good character played a role in avoiding jail. Not sure where the above sits in terms of king hits or similar - but he was walking a knife edge in terms of a jail sentence imo. From memory it sounded like they had a mutually violent/traumatic relationship, but that in no way excuses his actions.

Have a read of this, Iām very very surprised he didnāt do time for this amount of abuse and he must have spent a fortune on legal fees to avoid time. Thatās not an anti Veitch view those are the facts from his court file, the time he broke her spine wasnāt a one off -note the time he refused to let her call an ambulance. Iām not surprised his co workers loathe him .
