I was going to expand on my post about that. BBBR packs on the TH side when he and Whitelock play together but Whitelock moves to the TH side when playing with Barrett, and did with Tuipulotu. I'm not too sure how many times BBBR and Romano have played together but Retallick can switch between either with ease.
Tuipulotu should be similar to Royce Willis who was renowned for his scrummaging, so much so that Dowd wanted him packing behind him for the ABs when he was with the Blues.

@stargazer It seems Read is suffering from sciatica. With luck, rest and right exercises will ease disc back into place: fingers crossed!
Sciatica killed my "career". Took 18 months 2 steroid injections and lots of physio to get right.
Prolapsed disc L5S1. Caused by dopey fucking prop who wouldn't bend down properly, exacerbated by trying to deadlift too much.
No doubt knowledge and treatment has improved in 20 years. But it wasn't straightforward.

Bloody happy with our front row depth at the moment. For next year we will have two strong test quality front rows, plus Ofa , Moli and Aumua. Ofa definitely providing impact in the scrums but a little sloppy in the loose but that is usually a strong area of his game. Way more worried about the locks where it is Whitelock and Rettallick then daylight.

You and Olo Brown!
I had a bit nine years ago. L5S1 area. Never scanned. Flying long haul almost killed me. Lots of physio, but it only came right after I tore my hamstring (grade 2) on the last waterskiing run of the hols. Seemed the immobility helped things stabilise. Not recommending the cure, though! Occasional tweaks now but can sort with the hip flexor stretches I've got. Better to stretch regularly to prevent.
Very ifffy things, but if you're lucky surgery can be avoided.
Def. no deadlifts for Read over the Summer!!

I had a microdiscectomy on the L5/S1 in 2008 (when I was 28). I was in searing sciatic pain prior but - aside from the very occasional twinge - the operation was a roaring success.

@dmx yeah you've gotta be bloody happy with the front row stocks. Interesting that Aumua saw sfa time but you've got to think they're setting him up to replace Harris next year. Be interesting to see what happens with Crockett.
I'd love to see the back of Crockett, and Aumua being introduced slowly is probably a good thing, thats a while for any tight 5 to really reach their peak, but I'd still prefer to see him as the sub over Harris.

@pakman I can empathise. Most intense pain I've ever experienced (apart from 6 October 2007 in Cardiff) was a trapped nerve in my neck. Physio recommenced McKenzie exercises which got the pain down from 11 to 4 in a week or so.
Still took a good 6-9 months before I was back to reasonably normal though,

@kirwan Exactly. He's no Charlie in terms of ball carrying but Ofa's had a pretty decent season in black and his scrummaging continues to improve. Suprised people keep bringing up the subject as to why he keeps getting picked.

@african-monkey this is TSF, nothing should surprise you!
Whens the team named?

The highlight for me was calling for another scrum when our senior lock was off the field and we’d just won a penalty from the previous 7 v 8 scrum, and scoring off it. That’s got to mess with the opposition’s heads. Old Aura must be on 250+ caps by now.
Was that the bit where the camera cut to Hansen and he was just shaking his head and looking down?

@milk Honestly can't recall mate. I remember wondering though who made that call to take that second scrum. I'm assuming it was BB, as he seemed to be acting captain. Considering he probably knows less than bugger all about scrumming it was an absolute statement of faith in the undermanned pack and a very, very ballsy demonstration of intent to the Welsh.

A brilliant 'fuck you' moment
