@crucial I'll be watching England Oz at an Edinburgh pizza joint before the ABs game! Does seem odd nothing was shifted to Sunday.
We played on a Sunday quite a bit about 10 years ago.
All the other home nations bleated about it, so it was binned.

Baffling how the games all overlap or kick of at the same time. Surely there are more broadcasting bucks to be had by staggering them?
This Saturday the following clashesItaly v Argentina, Sat 18/11, k/o 2.00pm UK time:
Wales v Georgia, Sat 18/11, k/o 2.30pm UK time:
England v Australia, Sat 18/11, k/o 3.00pm UK time:
Scotland v New Zealand, Sat 18/11, k/o 5.15pm UK time:
Ireland v Fiji, Sat 18/11, k/o 5.30pm UK time:Sky v BBC
Twats
How does that work? Each union sells each match independently? Or all home games as a package?
Wales and Scotland to BBC and England/Ireland to Sky?And even if that is the case why not adjust KO times so there is no clash with another channels and whoever broadcasts it gets more viewers.
Can imagine there will be the odd pub argument on what channel should be on.

Except for the 6 Nations.
Then it's only England home matches on Sky
I think. Not sure about the Frogs. -

No. Rugby in Ireland in the nineties was severely depressing. When IRFU finally decided to get professional in 2000 it got a whole lot better. And we’re fortunate that wedon’t have to rely on BBC or Sky to watch Ireland matches which helps.

I'm not saying things were better in the amateur days just that the current set up could be much more betterer.
edit: following football models for a sport that involves impact and collisions as part of the play is by far the biggest fuck up.

To be fair, we've had several goes at it now and seemingly make it worse each time, with as @Pot-Hale says Ireland being the notable exception.

Not sure what you mean by "following football models......."
Can you expound further on your theory, please?

Just the number of concurrent competitions that place big demands on players. Premierships alongside knockout comps and European cups with International games mixed in as well.
Not so bad in wendyball, but in a collision sport it gets too much. Also not saying that the SH has it perfect. Quite obvious that Super Rugby has become a pigs ear of a comp as it has expanded and contracted but at least we manage to avoid the club vs country conflicts.

@crucial Slight panic finding my tickets! Am in North 4.
I've always had good times going up for this game.
Especially sweet was afterwards watching the Kiwis browneye the Kangaroos 24-0 in the 2005 Tri Nations final.
Jeez its going to be bloody cold! Forecast for low single digits during the game. Was thinking of wearing my kilt!
...and AB jersey of course.
-
@pakman said in 2017 November Internationals:
@crucial Do you have some Scottish ancestry?
A smidge. I'm more an 'adopted scot'. Lived there for a while. Claim my tartan through the missus so wear the hunting version. Got the kilt for my wedding but give it an outing every now and then.

FFS Cuthbert 😭

It does make you think that despite all the talk of more expansive rugby, Gatland can't get past the big muster plan A.

Canada's squad to play Spain has been named. You can find it here.
I noticed this in the squad announcement:
Ontario’s Tyler Ardron is no longer available for selection for the final two games of the series based on professional rugby commitments in New Zealand;
I'm surprised that he apparently has to be back for Chiefs pre-season and isn't allowed to play for his country.
