Hurricanes 2018

Mercurial is a great word to describe West.
subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind.
That pretty much summarises why he's had most of his success off the bench rather then starting and directing a team around the paddock.
I agree with @Rapido I think if he does start, he's better off at 15 injecting himself from time to time rather than constantly touching the ball at 10.

Ihaia West is going to have a great career when a team puts him fulltime at fullback.
To play fullback full time he will need to improve his ability under the high ball a hell of a lot. Right now it is a real weakness.

When is Fidow available ?
According to the article below, he's out for the season. IIRC, I saw on his instagram a few days ago that he has had surgery.
They'll both be desperate to play, along with tighthead prop Alex Fidow. He's done for this Super Rugby season too after snapping a ligament in his big toe. Illness kept Fidow out of the round-one loss to the Bulls, before he scored a try on debut as the Hurricanes beat the Jaguares in Buenos Aires. An eye-socket fracture saw him spend six weeks on the sideline and now he needs surgery on his toe, after getting injured during his club rugby comeback.

I suppose we will have to wait for the books to come out to find out what went wrong for Boyd, the only Canes coach to win Super rugby.
I guess Carlos wanted to be part of a winning team..... -

I guess Carlos wanted to be part of a winning team.....Didn't Plumtree come along as Boyd's assistant on a hand shake agreement that would see Boyd step aside so Plumtree could take over?
-
well, from the outside, it would appear Plumtree is the more valuable part of the Boyd/Plumtree team....

That poorly written article is the first i've heard of Boyd being forced out. I thought that was the plan all along?
Is there anything to back the claims in this article up?I seem to recall him having a change of heart

Haven't heard anything about Boyd wanting to stay, or going on back on that prior agreement with Plumtree. Those two still seem super tight, and if anything Boyd might still be salty with the fishheads at head office. The only real shots he's fired were about lack of contact from Hansen.
Stoked to have Spencer coming home - will be interesting to see what he can bring to the coaching team. Toffee pops for everyone!!
