Crusaders v Highlanders (QF)
-
Landers by 1 with @Chris-B's boy Marty Banks slotting the winning dropgoal in the dying minutes.
-
@No-Quarter Like this....?
Be careful what you wish for.
I've already got insurance money riding on the Highlanders knocking us over and then rolling a couple of teams returning from SA to take the title.
(Mainly insurance against the taunting of my Highlanders supporting bro-in-law).
-
@Chris-B I have no recollection of that game.
-
Highlanders are going to pull rabbit out of hat and will win by 8 pts.
-
That's pretty much a full strength Crusaders team - for the first time this season.
I'd possibly have gone with Ioane or Bateman instead of George Bridge on the bench, but otherwise nothing much to quibble about.
Nice to see Pete Samu is fit again. Hope he's managed to get some club rugby under his belt.

I like the idea of Samu coming on for Taufua in the last quarter. Jordan has faded in a few games this year late in the piece. Samu's a good ball runner.

Only about 15,000 tickets sold for tomorrow night's quarterfinal between the Crusaders and Highlanders in Christchurch.
What is Capacity for that ground?

That's really shit if it doesn't sell out... i am pretty sure the regular season game was a sellout, as was the blues game.
Fucking horrible weather down here today. Hopefully clears for tomo evening and we get a good walk up

I wouldn't blame anyone not buying a ticket if the weather is rubbish but I imagine it will sell out

I think around 21,000 with the temporary seating they installed for the lions game

@SammyC heard on the radio the captains run was moved elsewhere due to weather.
Yeah we are getting 1/6 of our annual rainfall in 1 day apparently. Supposed to clear up tomo evening though

Another example of the new stadium in Chch needing a roof (whenever it ends up getting built)
I completely disagree that this instance is proof enough of the requirement for a roof.
I'd hate of all major rugby was roofed. (I do like Dunedin has one though)

I would be interested to see the attendance figures for the Highlanders before and after the new stadium. From telly it appears to be a party atmosphere with large numbers to most Landers home games.
The Crusaders have never really had a problem with crowd numbers so probably wouldn't make a difference there. Might have made that certain final easier to watch had there been a roof though.

from the TAB
A winning streak is defined as a consecutive sequence of games or competitions won. It can be applied to teams and individuals. We're going to twist this a little and apply it to Waisake Naholo's try-scoring feats. The All Blacks flyer has bagged a brace of tries in each of the last four matches against the Crusaders. It almost makes this a Money in the Bank bet, but given two tries is tough to do in any match, we'll leave it as a Longshot. Naholo to score a fifth consecutive brace is paying a really juicy $7.50. Get on it.
