@Pot-Hale you seem to have had one of your best players on the bench too. That VanderFlier bloke was pretty good when he came on. Really got go forward at times and good skills too.
Yeah he is class. SOB reminds me of McCaw, while VDF reminds me of Jones. His running lines for Leinster this season have been a joy to behold.
I reckon the NZ backrow got fairly schooled across the 2 tests, which is a worry.
If I could ask Steve Hansen one question it would
What did you think of the NZ high tackles yesterday?
No actually, it would be "why haven't you picked Akira Ioane in your wider training squad?"
If Akira was playing I think Irish fans would have even more reason to whinge about supposed dirty play. That's actually partly why he isn't there.
He's not a dirty player any more than Coles is. They both like to annoy opposition players, it's been pointed out before that Akira doesn't even get penalised for it, which is more than can be said for Coles.
Sorry, came out wrong. I don't think he is a dirty player but his style of play is of the type that seems to make the Irish fans (probably those that just jumped on the bandwagon) get their undies up their cracks.
As far as the AB selectors go I think they want to see a bit more evidence of a cool head. -

Fekitoa and Cane have both been cited for alleged dangerous tackles.
Sounds like something Aaron Smith could get done for.
Inevitable really, given the footage and the fuss they made about high tackles before the series. Surprised they didn't look at Sexton's too and maybe even Coles' (was it Coles? Can't remember).
-
Even though it's a ridiculous decision, Cane can't play anyway. Not surprised that Fekitoa was cited. His absence will be more of an issue if Crotty isn't fit. Ioane is still green as.
I remember an illegal shoulder charge clean-out by Toner that wasn't even penalised. It was similar to de Jager's in Durban.
-
I think Malakai will cop this one for the team. Cane cited just to shut the feral Irish fans up so Fekitoa will get a decent punishment to keep them quiet.
Cane being cited is a black mark against O'Peyper and the TMO though. Basically it is saying that what they deemed as a penalty only was actually worthy of a RC. It's no as if there is further evidence than what they both saw.

Same thing happened in the Six Nations between England and Ireland. Ref and TMO looked at multiple angles of Brown kicking at the ball with Murray on the floor, decided no action was needed. Citing commissioner disagreed (although it was eventually dropped).
It's not a great look for the refs involved, but it has precedent.

That's what I mean. The refs get marked on their performance and only penalising a RC offence is a black mark.

Cane's citing is a joke.
If Fekitoa misses the next game, and Ben Smith is out with a mangled hand, and I assume Crotty is still out injured, then have we run out of centres?
ALB-Rieko. I'd actually quite like to see that, both hugely exciting players.

Was that for the head clash? Terrible call if so
-
Crotty was always in line for this game and from what I heard he was running freely last week too, so expect highly likely he'll be back this week

I certainly don't want to see that. Reiko showed in the ITM Cup that he really struggles defensively in the midfield.
He could be last man standing and might be given the jersey but I will be holding my breath big time.
In attack he's excellent but right now I'd love to see him on the wing.
Give the 12 jersey to Jordie Barrett and have ALB at 13 😎

It wasn't actually a head clash. Reverse angle shows it clearly
-
@hydro11 one angle clearly shows their heads impacting, so how anyone can say there was no head clash is beyond me.
Similarly one angle of BB's try shows clear grounding, the other that was shown repeatedly on the big screen makes it look doubtful.
-
@taniwharugby He was damn unlucky. Cane wasn't even looking at the player, he was turning his head to avoid the impact!! Can't we have an inadvertent clash of bodies without blaming one person? The Paddy player spun around straight into Cane when he didn't expect it. You could argue that he headbutted Sam's shoulder

ABs by 12 and under at $3.70 sounds a good option to me....
Did you take this?
-
@ACT-Crusader Tamanivalu is in the squad too, and he and ALB have played together before. Losing BFA means you lose a back-up midfielder too in the 23. Naholo is NOT a centre as he struggles defensively on the wing.
Agree about Rieko - he's unproven in the midfield but could make the bench vs France with the injuries.
