Wallaby EOYT 2016

As poor as the Welsh were, the wallaby forward pack really are starting to deliver. The two locks and Timani have given this pack some serious physicality and go forward. They look likely to be our strongest challengers in 2017. Also starting to see Byrne's influence set in in terms of the offloads from not just the backs but also the forwards. I am picking them to roll England at the end of this tour.
-
Reckon the wallabies will get too fatigued to beat England.
Would love it though - the sound of rapid deflation would be deafening...
-
@mariner4life - steamed, boiled, grilled, or fried?

Infidel has identified the "Problem with Israel".....Folau that is.
I noticed today, he can't run with the ball in hand and pass while he runs. Which makes Folau at centre a bad idea.
There was one play about 10 minutes before half time I think, Folau had the ball on the right wing in space, Aussies really coulda shoulda woulda scored such was the space, Folau made the least of the opportunity which was thwarted by the Welsh. Same situation ABs would have scored 7 or 8 out of 10 times.
When Folau gets the ball in the line, he seems to tuck the ball under one wing and then run into contact, but don't think he can run and draw and pass, his instinct is always to run. Has a great offload when he is held or tackled, but the lack of passing game I think is why he is not as effective as he should be.

Just watched it. Fuck we should have had 50!
Coleman and Arnold finally bring that team some utter fluffybunny. Loved watching both of them just smash in again and again.
As I predicted, Wales don't have the linespeed of NZ so we had more space to work in, and Foley used every bit it. Needs to work on his kicking tho.
Nice to have a game where Wales were never in the hunt.

yeah, something that was all but ignored in all the debate around the pooper was the fact that the soft as butter locks were a much bigger problem. long overdue change there, and it is paying immediate dividends.
-
In a two horse race we were very fortunate to come second best.
Larkham's DNA was all over this win. Some beautiful angles of running at pace from depth just cut us apart.
Baffled that Australia didn't keep on their foot on our throat.
Thankfully they didn't, otherwise it would have been 50.

@MiketheSnow commiserations. The Wallabies looked to run out of puff in the final 15. Oz won the collisions and the backs seemed to grow a leg from that.

There was an element of that, but I think our reserves made things a little disjointed, particularly the forwards.

In the pack only the hooker and locks survive from the QF side.
A new look midfield. The wing selections are interesting. Where's Seymour? Maitland had been in the naughty box but gets a start. Visser's a quality player and I quite like that other winger Hoyland.
-
interesting Wallaby side. Top team again. Are these guys going to play every game on tour? I would have thought Scotland (despite recent bogey status) would be the game to do it.
Wallabies by 15-20

That would seem logical of course BUT I invoke the precepts of Yeah, Nah - on the following basis:
Couple of losses to Scotland in the last decade, plus the seething anger from RWC 2015 QF controversy, PLUS the fact it'll be cold and damp, which are conditions we don't excel in.
I think, for the credibility of the Wallabies, we fucking smash everyone we can as smashingly as possible on this tour.
Maybe, if we're going to rest blokes, it'll come in the form of using the bench differently, or maybe changing it up against France.
If we lose to France but win the Grand Slam, then I'd be happy with that.
-
@NTA yea, that's probably a pretty fair summary. A grand slam would resonate better at home, and is a great target. France don't often get up for you guys anyway, so even rotating through some players you could still be golden.
Smashing everyone will be a lot harder if your best players are trying to play 5 tests in 5 weeks away from home. Isn't it England last? I reckon Cheika will be gunning hard for that one.
-
It is probably the most important Test on tour.
I'm kind of glad it is last because it gives the maximum opportunity for acclimatisaion.

Which is kind of why I think, if we manage to put a gap on Scotland, guys like Hooper and Moore will get a longer rest than they otherwise would.
Don't think Hooper has missed many minutes of Test rugby this year. If any. Though he's one of those guys who is far better playing than he is sitting down.
-
Another point on the resting thing: with both Simmons and Skelton on the bench, Coleman and Arnold will probably get a decent rest.
The latter has had a couple of head knocks recently, and though they're not serious, having those two fire against Ireland and England will be extremely important.
