@Nepia Here you go, some stats for this guy who's only taking up space.

Currently tied 1st for tries, equal with Ben Smith and Crotty.

Shockingly, he's way down at 8th on the carries list with only 42. Oh but that's odd as he tops the metres list with 378 (next best is Isa with 361).

Top on clean breaks with 11, (Ben Smith 10, Isa, 8 ).

    4th in Defenders beaten with 16 (Smith 20, Isa 19, Barrett 17).

This stats are from the Herald, so not sure how accurate, but hey, seem to paint a picture of a guy doing something right, even if he's not in the form which might get him compared to Jonah.

I can remember off the top of my head 4 very strong runs from Savea in the last game, 3 times bumping off the first defender and the other time clean stepping him. He's there to do a job and he's doing it well. It's hardly a surprising that ALB and Crotty had plenty of space when Savea is standing on the wing. Hell part of the reason Crotty made the break that led to the breakout try was because the Argie defense was hell bent on cutting down space for Savea outside him.

He draws defenders and runs strongly. And that's when he's not at his best. There is daylight between him and the next best 11 right now. Unless you're still fluffing Lowe?

No white-knighting. Just calling out an obvious bias from someone determined to ignore anything positive he does.

Yeah, love watching him play, close to my favourite player to watch at the moment.

I'd say NMS, Naholo and Ben Smith are our best wingers.
I honestly think George Moala would be better than Julian Savea as well.

Agree re: NMS and Ben Smith. However Ben Smith according to you is a fullback and NMS is a right winger.

Naholo is largely unproven at test level. Well, he's proven he has tits for hands thus far.

Moala even more unproven and is a centre.

Did you see Naholo tear it up in the first Aussie game?? Upside is huge with him. Far more dangerous and quicker than Savea.
On Moala you might be right.

    Does it matter?
Naholo seems to break every 5 mins, Moala too and NMS has been broken for months.

Have that debate when all the contenders are fit. Right now it is Savea, a rookie or move a midfielder/fullback there. I'll take Savea out of those options thanks.

I agree that Naholo has massive upside. He is a weapon with ball in hand, but is far from the complete package at test level. Long term I think he will usurp Savea but he's not there yet.

I thought Savea was very strong this test. Looked like his head was in the game as he was used close to the action a bit and was getting involved at the ruck also.

Watched the test again and other than how the last 20 played out, I thought the whole team played well.

All players, even those that seem to get under posters skin when they are selected, did good things out there.

@Nepia I agree that he is not the player he used to be. But is he better than what we have presently. Who is the next cab off the rank. Dagg to me is really only a stop gap for Nahalo has been injured and the hope that Savea turns things around. Moala possibly, I am not sold yet, if not injured or Ioane but that is EOYT stuff. They have made their bed with Savea till the end of the year most likely.

One thing I think is quite cool is the resurgence of Dagg and the discovery of his ability to actually play wing to a very good standard.

Obviously also means that he can be our bench 10/15 who also covers wing.

I think when Naholo becomes available he will be in direct competition with Savea,

Might have it wrong, im tipping Naholo to win that battle if he stays fit , just think he seems to have more upside right now ,

NMS in competition with Dagg I reckon

I find it a bit odd that some are surprised Dagg is performing well on the wing. He was an excellent wing in 2010 and has a similar skillset to previous right wings of the modern era - Jane, Smith, Toeava. Remember, since the disastrous Sivi/Rok wing combo the coaching panel have always seen the 14 jersey as more of second fullback - kicking/high ball skills/ball handling all vital.

Dagg even at his worst could manage all of that.

I was a bit disappointed with J Savea in this test, he had a lot of ball but didn't quite capitalise on his chances.

I've been happy with him this tournament though so wouldn't be surprised to see him retained, but I'd prefer to see Naholo given another shot after his good performance in Sydney. If he's fit.

Dagg performs a different role so I don't think his position is under threat. Right now. But definitely could be if another fullback/wing puts his hand up.
