@Daffy-Jaffy I’m disappointed that Surfboard Jesus doesn’t appear to be a man amongst men (or boys) when in front of the media. Always seems nervous. Was he the same at the Saders or do I remember differently? Bit of the old Ron Manager (IYKYK) about him.
Yes Surf Jesus seemed to be more confident before. Now he's all froth and verging on wipeout. But if he can catch a couple of beach breaks we might be watching the start of something gnarly.
-
I hope they move Ardie to 7 rather than Sititi, seems unfair on a newbie to shift him between 3 positions.
-
And more urgency from Finau would be good. He's in a lucky position with so many of the other loosies injured (or not wanted).

Big opportunity for Finau in this test
Razor has been obsessed with Jacobson in the loose forward bench role but he has been underwhelming in my view.
With Lakai in the wings and supposedly Blackadder and Papalii coming into the squad later in the tour - Finau's chance is now.
Finau was poor off the bench vs Boks in one chance so this weekend will see if he can improve
I suspect all things being equal Cane gets subbed off and Savea or Sititi move to 7
Big opportunity? Really?
He’s been picked on the bench behind an out of form guy at 8 that will get 80mins regardless and the new star on the block Sititi at 6. Finau is likely to get 15mins max unless there is an injury.
He’s also not a typical impact player that is best used off the bench. He’s a grind-it-out for 70mins guy that knocks people over until they stop running at him. He’s not going to make a break up the middle of the park in the 75th minute with fresh legs carrying him 60m to the line
I hope he goes well if he gets a shot, but I really don’t see this as a “big opportunity “ for him

This looks like a clown show. I hope there's a result that makes me eat my words.

@African-Monkey I mean if you're going to go off on EdG being unfit, I would hope you prefer Tosi over Newell!
Newell is the ginger Nepo Laulala.
Harsh, I saw Newell gain a metre once. Once.
To be fair to Newell, he looks bloody solid at scrum time, which although Lauala was hyped up to be, he really wasn't.

One issue for some of these blokes is that they need regular game time to perform .
Think it was very good for Finau to play NPC.

Reckon they might run him out wide in second half and even have him chasing cross kicks. Don't know why so many on here see him as a big hit guy only when he has such good aerial, handling and running skills. Really hoping we get to see them this weekend.

Hopefully the game is slow enough for Cane. Looked like someone had filled his boots with concrete against Aus.
The fact that he's still the coach's pick to start despite him leaving NZ shortly just smacks of a lack of imagination and wasted opportunity to find the best replacement

Been off the pace for a while now. I thought his test career was finished after vs Japan 2022. Just couldn't keep up in that game.
-
@Old-Samurai-Jack maybe Cane is playing the granite shoulder role normally played by the 6? He may wear 7, but he’s not doing the fetching/support role. That is being done by Savea.
Apart from at scrum time, the numbers on the backs of the back row don’t make a lot of sense.
-
Unusual to not have a ready replacement for 7 and 10 like in the past.

100%. I think Cane's been a great AB, an absolute warrior, but just can't understand how he's being used right now.

Lakai this year could easily have had 2-3 games of 30 minutes under his belt. We still don't know if he's ready.

Wish Proctor would teach Rieko how to run a line and pass.
Bryn Hall was effusive in his praise for Proctor on the Aotearoa pod this week.
Best player on the park he reckoned.
Bryn never cricise anyone Hall. I'm shocked.

You don’t think Papali’i was the heir apparent? He was given plenty of opportunity whilst Cane was not in the squad. Made a decent go of it too and still very much in the frame but for injury.
So whilst we had both Cane and Papali’i I’m not sure what minutes Lakai was going to get.
In saying all that Papali’i does play a similar role to Cane so there is an argument of whether he’s a 6.5 type.
I don’t think it’s that unusual that Cane is getting game time. He needs to play better than what we’ve seen in the last couple of tests, but I thought he he bought a bit of starch against the Boks especially with Savea being off the boil.
-
I think Paps got short changed a bit after playing well the last couple of years.
Call me old fashioned but I like a fast 7.
6.5s are 6s in my book.
Lakai could easily have got a bit more of a look.
Overall I'm more concerned with 10-12-13 cos it ain't right. -
I live not far from Twickenham weathers gonna be cloudy with minimal wind.
The country is feeling sore at the moment.
A game of rugby is a good excuse to go to the pub -

Which is completely further from the truth off camera haha.
