All Blacks 2024

@pakman Agreed, but I'd go further.
You only really need one of Cane/Dalton to start, as the other isn't a good bench option. Cop a bad injury and you bring the other one into the squad - they both have plenty of experience with the ABs and can slot in easy. That's not the case with the back-ups at 6 and 8, which should be Finau and Hoskins.7: Cane (or Dalton)
8: Savea, Hoskins
6: Akira, Finau
Utility/bench: Blackadder
Development: Sititi. -
I have the feeling that Tosi will leapfrog Newell in the pecking order before the EOYT, as the latter is nowhere to be seen in the loose. It would bring size upfront to compensate (partially) for the lack of size of the loose forwards. At lineout time, it's better to have a tall prop lifting a smallish LF than a small prop lifting a smallish LF.

@Brandon very interesting that Victor Matfield while reflecting on their change to allow overseas players picked believed that it had increased their player pool by not only picking overseas players but also exposing younger players to senior rugby more quickly. He said it was a win win. I would be open to explore the rule which allowed 40 game All blacks the ability to go overseas and be picked after 40 games for the ABs.
This is one of the thoughts I had too - a bigger pool of professional players to choose from, which surely gives a short term improvement. Longer term is the bigger question, but I just don't know the answer to that.

I don't have any right to comment on the NZ game... however I can say this:
- picking foreign-based players strengthens the Boks
- it allows our players to experience new competitions and cultures
- they bring back learnings from around the world
- it gives younger players a chance in RSA
- overall it's win-win
That's all
Best wishes
BThat's a great take and I like the younger players being given a chance angle. Be interested to know what you think the downsides are?

Id tell the canes to start playing Love at 10 next season.
I think there’s a strong likelihood that might happen. He’s shown the selectors what he can do at fullback, if he can play just aswell at 10 his stocks will rise massively.

Himself and Cam Roigard could form a nice little partnership. Get plenty of reps in.

But there are a number of big names that haven't delivered in 2024:
Ardie Savea
TJ Perenera
Jordie Barrett
Reiko Ioane (at centre, looks better on the wing)
Mark Telea
Beauden Barrett (apart from Eden Park against England)I think some of those guys won't be in the squad for the Bledisloe.
-
@sparky Savea will. BB will be on then bench. As will TJP (even if I think he is the antithesis to cool calm finisher). I can see RI being the bench cover for wing and centre. ALB to start - possibly at 12, with Proctor at 13. JB if kicking for goal is a shoe in - when he isn’t kicking, his form needs to be much better. He’s under threat.

A lot of these were known knowns for quite some time though if we are honest with ourselves.
Barrett and TJP are ready for the knackers yard, and Ioane should have been left on the wing all along.

Proctor and Love need to be tried out otherwise it's getting ludicrous

There is no need now to bring all of Cane, Papalii, Jacobsen and Blackadder on the EOYT.
There should be spots for the likes of Lakai, Akira, Sotutu.
Cane should get a fond send off against Australia and then good luck and thanks for the memories.
Id rather have Hotham and Ratima than TJP too.
Rieko to the wing.
Id be giving Narawa a proper audition too.....not sure what happened there with him??????
Fabian Holland should travel in whatever capacity he is allowed, to train with the team and get up to speed.

The Allblacks used to be too afraid to lose.
They would play stink but will themselves over the line.
With 20 minutes to go these lads are looking at each other thinking "its happening again".
The media, players and fan base are getting accustomed to dropping 4 games a year now.
Apathy and ambivalence is enveloping the Allblacks entity.
Even on forums such as this......nobody seems angry any more.
-
Shortly we are going to have two running units in Roigard and Sititi. Things are alright.
-
What do you do if you are Razor here?
Ireland England and France away from home in 8 weeks time.
He needs wins on the board soon to keep the wolves from the door so he doesnt look like a busted flush himself.
But the experienced heads are letting him down. Barrett kicking the ball away week in week out, McKenzie missing kicks. The captain dropping a pass cold today while hot on attack. Two completely avoidable yellow cards today.
I hope he knows in his heart that some of these players are finished but by the same token , Lansdowne , Twickenham and Paris are tough places to give a couple of new guys game time concurrently.
Maybe he needs to blood some newbies against Australia. Proctor and Love come to mind.

I think for their next edition NZ Rugby news needs to have a photo of Scott Robertson with the word ‘Guilty’ written underneath.
