NZ's point of difference has always been our explosive dynamic backs. Only France come anywhere close of the current int. player pools.
Our midfield is incredibly average. Reiko really hasn't kicked on at 13 as we hoped and while Jordie is a big lump at 12, he's hardly world-class.
It really isn't.
Were you saying that after dismantling the Boks 6 tries to 1 at Mt Smart last year? after Argentina 42-11, 42-10, 44-6 in the Semi, 42-14 against Aus in 2022 after almost losing in Melbourne the week before the change?
Of all the All Blacks problems midfield talent & depth isn't a serious one, other nations would love to be in our position, Jordie, Reiko, ALB, Proctor, Tupaea, Poihipi, Rona, AJ Lam, Higgins, Grindley, Sullivan, TUJ, Leicester coming back iin 2026, Toby Bell coming through, etc.
Our depth is SO deep you couldn’t even find room for David Havilli.

@kiwiinmelb you’re right. Not in the spirit of the Fern.
I’ve given myself an uppercut and said 10 Hail Suzys
The guy on Reddit lost all credibility when he said 64% win rate was ok.
A clear sign he's not an All Black supporter.

If you are going to attribute wins to one player, then you're also arguing Jordie is also single-handedly responsible for record losses to SA, Argentina and losing RWC2023. Which is complete bollocks.

Maybe there are some gems in there, but that doesn't make JB a world-beater. does it?

@junior I don't think anyone here has been looking at the Boks and going "wow, what a backline! Imagine if they had Aaron Mauger too!". So it's a bit odd to stamp a mark in the ground about them being overrated.
They're no mugs, but.
Not sure why Mauger is getting mentioned. Weird.
But speaking of 2003 I wouldn’t pick a single All Black in a combined 15…..there, that should do it
Mauger, sensational player.
I see your Aaron Mauger and raise you a Lee Stensness.

I'm normally a glass half full supporter, but I've not been impressed by this coaching group. Their selections seem more geared to a Super Rugby level than the realities of Test level.
I think we are in for a bit of a lesson.
Seems to be coaching on vibes.
Id want to be seeing some dry powder unveiled and soon.
Serious stench of emperors clothes off the whole thing at the moment, with 2 games against the Boks, Ireland, England and France all to come.
Could get ugly.

Plenty of All Black teams have gone over there as underdogs and have played above themselves.
This team needs to do that. Find that something extra to lift their performance and win it. It’s their time to do this.

I’ve really got no idea what to expect , usually I have a gut feel on where we are at , a good display or a poor one probably wouldn’t shock me either way .
I’m not saying we have been terrible, probably more unconvincing.

Not much in this article.. it does discuss the possession based game plan that was successful last time these two played at Ellis Park.
Is that what the AB's go for again? Do the forwards have enough ball runners to play this way? What about the contact work and accuracy of the breakdown?

Not only that, they believe we’ve got ample evidence that Super Rugby is responsible for the Wallabies and All Blacks demise and how Europe has made the Springboks that much better.
In Ben's mind, the All Blacks are still #1. Good for him, and there's a good chance they will win tomorrow. But in the article he comes across as a bitter man.
The springboks are a different team with a different coach since the last time these two met. It's going to be fascinating to watch. -
Turns out Ian Foster actually never lost a Rugby Championship

I do like the idea that Razor would copy Foster to register a crucial win.
