First five is a coin toss.
Aw is halfback, wing and fullback. Yeah massively overrated. Like so massive like.
The whole South African team apart from Prop, Hooker, Lock, loose forwards, halfback, first five, midfield, wing and fullback is MASSIVELY overrated.

England are really fucking good and a team on the rise with an excellent coach.

Saffa backline is massively overrated on here, it's because they won the WC playing a methodical gameplan where everyone is the sum of their parts, and does only exactly what's required for them, the only ones who i'd pick in our 23 is either of Kriel and Dellende over ALB on the bench and Feinberg over Dmac at a stretch.
South Africa have better props and better bench locks & loosies but that's it.
De Allende would piss in ahead of Jordie. Class player. Kriel would probably force Reiko to the wing too.
First five is a coin toss.
Watch the RWC final again, their backs are limited and posed little threat to us despite 15 vs 14.
these players also versed our guys in Super Rugby and mostly got walked over.
France and Ireland certainly have better backlines than SA. England's is about par with them.
my theory is folks on here and our media give them too much respect because they're our traditional rivals and we have a unique relationship off the field.

You're talking shit Daryl
I'll watch that final again (no I won't) and watch jordie stink the joint out.
DdE is the player Jordie fluffers think Jordie is. I would take him in a heartbeat.
Kreil is hugely underrated here, he is strong on the carry and free his outsides. If he was a kiwi people would cream over him. -

If he was a kiwi people would cream over him.If Saffa backs like DdE and Kriel still came up against our guys in Super Rugby we'd see their attacking limitations a lot more compared to our guys, when not playing in Rassie's slick cohesive setup and sum of their parts approach, just playing for the regular old Bulls and Stormers against Blues/Hurricanes, they'd be AJ Lam/Tupaea/Poihipi level.
NZ's point of difference has always been our explosive dynamic backs. Only France come anywhere close of the current int. player pools.
-
of those SA guys only Kolbe had a decent impact in SR, and that was during his prime, now he's over the hill and would get run around/over by most NZ wingers.
by the way this isn't just conjecture - these SA guys played in Super as recent as 5 years ago and were very rarely up there with ours in attacking stats and other metrics.

Riiiiight
Firstly, super rugby is not test rugby
Secondly, we are picking Jordie for.no other reason than he is a big dumb lump to truck it up. When he does literally anything else he fucks it up. Explosive and dynamic? Give me strength.
I love Reiko Ioane, but didn't he fail to score a single try this super season despite playing against shit Australian teams and playing for the best team in the comp?
-
Cane looked understandably short of a gallop at Eden Park. Hopefully that run was good for him and he can look up to the pace.
A real litmus test test for some of these players - especially the ones with limited to no exposure to playing the Boks (or even South African Super teams) at the high veldt
Williams, Vaai, Clarke, Aumua, Darry, Finau etc.
Let's see what they are made of
-
@mariner4life if any of the ABs backs played in URC they'd score agamillion tries though so they're way better than the Springboks.

I think Jordie went from being an average fullback to a poor wing to a handy 2nd five, certainly playing after David Havilli helped…..but those who laud him as this Jonah like Mastadon are just talking absolute bullshit.
Good player, players in other teams are better though.
-
Say what you like but we're playing the world champions, who are at home and have so much depth Eben is forced to sit on the bench.

oh come on, where's your memory, Jordie made his debut for the Hurricanes in 2017 aged 19 - and he and his brother spent that season terrorizing Saffa and Australian sides, I shudder to think what 26 year old Jordie would inflict at SR level on Stormers/Bulls/Sharks/Lions today.

South Afrīca will forever be the whipping boys of Super Rugby.
Less overall wins than Australian sides (home and away), even with biased refs like Egon Seconds, etc. assisting them with home wins.

Fuck yeah! I hope our losing ABs remind them of that during every stoppage in the test match on Saturday. That'll teach the Boks, those RWC trophies will be great for catching their tears over being subpar in SR.
You go Daryl

2017?...I remember the Hurricanes getting smoked by the Lions in the semi final....at...you guessed it.... Ellis Park.
