I love this post.
Starts by admitting not watching the only competition that matters for AB selection.
Bags players for past performances when they are clearly playing to different instructions in the final-winning team, where their efforts were hugely important to the results across the season.
And they were part of the only team that went through teams before using their backs - exactly what everyone is banging on about us needing.
Chef’s kiss ferning.
Nut meet shell.

People on here forget SR finals Havilli and some classic performances esp. that victory in SA that saved Foster's ass.
Havili filled a role when the AB midfield was decimated by injury and he did OK in SA 2 but that was his peak.
I see the logic in Cane being in the squad, he's an absolute warrior with a ton of experience, zero ego, an asset in tough games and the sort of player an inexperienced new coach like Robertson would turn to.
You really can't say that about Havili with a fully-fit midfield.

One thing I do know is that the 3 recent AB wins have shown some backbone. Something that was missing for large chunks of 2019-2023, WC excluded.
Way, way too early to judge.
IMO the rot started in '18 and continued thru to midway thru the 2023 RC. Maybe the turning point was Ellis Park last year or the Ireland 1/4 final, but who knows?

I'd say 2017. Hansen orginally planned to finish then - in hindsightl that was the time to go. The next two years weren't great.
I'm still pissed at TJP in Lions 3 pissing aroudn flapping at the ref instead of clearing the ball from the
penaltyscrum we won at the end of the game. Cost us the chance of a series victory right there, with a second bite of the cherry. -
To be honest, if people are happy with ALB playing at 12 for the All Blacks then they should be happy with David Havili playing there too... Neither of them have the physicality to play the same style of game as Jordie Barrett but, provided that's not the only game plan on the table from Robertson and co, then I can see Havili being a useful operator as a proper second five.

ALB is levels above Havili. Try again.

The lack of physicality thing is a bit of a myth too

Kinda, but not really. We need one for the bench at most, not both of them, and ALB has a far better record.

Not as a 12 he's not.

Just say you’re a 1 eyed cantab, it would be easier.

A change of style for their halfbacks (i.e., more of a running threat) is why Christie wasn't selected.

ALB can play anywhere he wants after that quarter final performance....

he seems to have really improved his defensive efforts ,
I can remember at some point when he first came in , thinking it was a potential weakness ( maybe around the lions tour ? )

@taniwharugby The articles says Christie has been sent back to Ta$man with some work-ons.
“We’ve told Fin to go back to Ta$man and continue to work on his game, have high energy and be instinctive around his attacking game. We’ve given him some work-ons,
