Cruden's little chip kicks annoy me no end. We were three metres out from their line after the quick tap from TJ and he decides to chip on the first phase. Patience and phase play would have eventually broken them. Did the same last week as well.

The one that nearly resulted in a try to fatty Savea?

Cruden was fine as an impact sub last week and it wasn't like he was terrible this week, the dumb kick aside (maybe he thought we were in line for another advantage). At any rate, we were spoilt having Barrett previously because 'back then' he wasn't the complete 10 he is now but he was an awesome sub and if need be we could play him 78 minutes at 10 and he'd be competent. Now that he's the starter we need an actual back up 10, because we can't play McKenzie as a 10 for 78 minutes because he's not good enough yet. It has to be Cruden (or Sopoaga) on the bench when Barrett starts because we need a 10.

Do we have yellow cards? Because Marty needs one for re-quoting the Ratpoo link 3 times!
-

Yeah, I'm tempted to do a similar analysis on refereeing mistakes in All Blacks / Wallabies games for the last 6-12 months or so.

Its an absolute fucking travesty. Shiggins keep these videos coming.

Couldn't get them high enough to put in a tree.

Moore's throwing action showing real effort of late - using his whole body instead of just locking the core and letting the elbows and wrists do the work.
-

Dunno if its been covered, but Franks apparently doesn't have a case to answer based on the footage available. So some of those other angles must have been OK.

It doesn't actually look like an eye gouge, more just an annoying "facial". Douglas is pretty much ignoring it, even though it was Franks' second go at his head Franks sees the ref pointing at him and gets off.

As Hansen said afterwards: you're going to get a few of those happen at maul time. Some by accident as players come together.

doesn't matter in my opinion nick, he deliberately and repeatedly went the face. i don't think the (presumably) long-term sanction for a deliberate eye gouge should apply, but regardless of exactly what he is trying to do that is dangerous, and he should be sat out on that basis.

Is Shiggens the drama queen that used to make the McCaw videos? Listening to his whining nasal voiceover after a victory was music to my ears . -

yep certainly looked like he had a 2nd crack at whatever it was he was trying to on his face!

Or, maybe Douglas uses a good moisturiser and Franks couldnt believe how soft his skin was he needed a second grasp!
-

not the greatest game of footy. the aussies predictably were super fired-up, and niggly - that was kinda working a little bit, until coleman got carried away and then it cost them. the game played out pretty much as expected: their pack fired up and physical, a tighter contest, but the opportunities we had we nailed - too much class out there.

barrett was excellent again, fekitoa was like night and day to how he started the AB season, dagg was really good on the wing. ALB solid on debut. smiths good as ever. kaino was awesome again too. read is a bit of a new fitzpatrick. he would shit me if he was playing against a team i supported. has developed a real habit of diving through to the wrong side of rucks to try and seal the ball off every time someone makes a break against us - his decision-making on the professional foul is first-rate.

that young aussie bloke - by fuck that is a fucking massive boot.
-

"I'm not quite sure why"

Because your captain whines constantly like he's creating a reel for when he applies for Phil Kearns' job at Fox.

Pick your battles, don't just whine constantly. Coles was guilty of this during Super rugby and after a few telling offs by the ref he modified. That thick shit Moore hasn't learnt the lesson yet - anyway he should be praising the ref for letting him get away with so many not straight lineout throws.
-

"In my humble opinion there's not much point having a crack at the refs. You've got to be consistent and careful when you do that sort of thing," Hansen said. "He didn't have a crack at the ref in [the] Scotland [match] in the World Cup. I know he was upset the ref didn't talk to Stephen but if I was in their shoes I'd be wanting to ask myself: 'what is it we're doing that's making him not want to talk to Stephen?' If you listen to the commentary, you've got to pick your moments. The best captains in the world pick their moments, they don't try and talk to them about everything. They just pick their moments. If I was in their shoes maybe that's what I'd be having a look at instead of having a crack at the ref."

Hansen's getting all philosophical in his old age...

Aussie fans will love that [emoji3] -

6. Cruden with a grubber 5 metres out - no, no, no, just hold onto the ball and wait for the pressure to tell.

Yeah - that was a shocker, but I thought we kicked too much, in general - Barrett being guilty, as well.

On Fekitoa, I think the thing that stands out for me compared to most of the other AB backs - especially Ben Smith - is that he doesn't look to have "time". When Smith has the ball, he always seems to have time to decide what to do and execute. Conversely, Fekitoa always looks rushed and under pressure. Bit of a lack of composure. I thought Lienert-Brown looked significantly better that Fekitoa last night.

An interesting question as to who should specialise where in the long term. In my mind, I have SBW, Crotty, Ngatai, Moala and Lienert-Brown as more 2nd fives than centres - and Fekitoa and Tamanivalu as centres rather than 2nd fives. Lots of interchangeability at present, but in the long term, one or two from the first group are going to have to transition if they want a long term test spot.

Savea looked a bit better, but still not great.

Most of the others were pretty good for the most part.
-
Sheesh fellas, you're losing it over one grubber kick? 1st world rugby problems....

Every 1st and 2nd 5 we've selected in the last decade (Carter, Mauger, Lucky, BB, Cruden, Nonu etc) have all had those rush of blood moments in a test match that they've tried the grubber in the attacking 22 that have us fans going arrgghhh -

Kearns. Quite unbelievable. Is there actual evidence that Australian rugby subscribers enjoy his drunken barfly fuckwit moaning and bitching schtick?

Kafer, best pundit in the game, seems to patiently deal with it -

Kafer, Gregan, Eales and Horan are excellent. Fair and calm analysis from some true legends. But it's ruined by Willis Kearns and that halfwit Maaaaardo.
