2. ABs made their usual mistake of throwing hot potatoes wide with a defence rushing up. Once they started to go forward closer to the ruck, there was some space out wide.
3. Scrums were a schemozzle - hate it when refs start throwing our penalties and free kicks without the packs actually doing anything. Just encourages both teams to try and milk it.
4. Watching Mitre 10 Cup and then this game really highlights that with the current laws, some refs just let players get away with anything. There was all sorts of people of their feet, coming in from the side which the ref was happy to let go.
5. Sam Cane is first choice number 7.
6. Cruden with a grubber 5 metres out - no, no, no, just hold onto the ball and wait for the pressure to tell.

Frank: Agree, Cruden either starts or is out. He isn't an impact sub. McKenzie could be.

Yeah, attacking kicks definitely have a place but that grubber from Cruden was a shit low percentage play. 
I don't mind Cruden being on the bench as 10 cover but i don't think they should be using him as an impact sub unless things need to be changed up dramatically. If Barrett is going well the he should play 80 at 10.

Cruden's little chip kicks annoy me no end. We were three metres out from their line after the quick tap from TJ and he decides to chip on the first phase. Patience and phase play would have eventually broken them. Did the same last week as well.

Cruden was fine as an impact sub last week and it wasn't like he was terrible this week, the dumb kick aside (maybe he thought we were in line for another advantage). At any rate, we were spoilt having Barrett previously because 'back then' he wasn't the complete 10 he is now but he was an awesome sub and if need be we could play him 78 minutes at 10 and he'd be competent. Now that he's the starter we need an actual back up 10, because we can't play McKenzie as a 10 for 78 minutes because he's not good enough yet. It has to be Cruden (or Sopoaga) on the bench when Barrett starts because we need a 10.
