I genuinely think the 9s will be TJ, Christie and then probably Ratima or Fakatava.

There's really no justification for leaving Ratima out of that group. If they pick TJ Christie and Fakatava they might as well just select the squad before Super Rugby season even starts.

    @Frank

He made ground/broke tackles on basically every carry. Decent number of tackles, won the ball on the ground at least once.

Well they did reckon 80% was picked quite sometime ago.

Ratima seems like the sort of player Razor would like at 9, IMO.

He did want him at the Crusaders.

I think TJP and Christie will be chosen with the third halfback up for grabs.

Mate of mine who went to the game spoke with Slater after the game. He said he should be alright for next week but Samisoni isn't looking like he'll play.

Suspect Razor will only pick 9s with the attributes he wants, that he thinks he can turn into a Test 9 in the next few years.

Christie probably has the inside running on TJ in that he's younger - but who knows relaly

Thank god he is over his concussion. It was touch and go for a while.

He also wanted Fakatava who almost signed with them.

I guess Rangi will want Christie ... 😞

Scott Hansen is the inside backs halfback selector (with Razor having final say)
Rangi is the wings and fullback.

@Canes4life not surprising that the Chiefs won and will win next week. Only teams with outstanding first fives win the comp. Mehrts, Larkham, Carter, Spencer, Cruden, Mounga etc. And McKenzie will be the next.

mmm, Derrick Hougard and Bernard Foley’s standing seems to have been significantly elevated from okay to “outstanding” now…..

    Rugby hates itself.

We have to call that try back because of a potentially glancing blow to head.

And now you’ll need to spend 10 in the bin because you smashed a guy - totally legitimately- half a second late.

I don’t think there is anything to see when a little white guy leads with his head on this guy though.

@KiwiMurph yeah bro was at the game. Disappointed but the Chiefs were the better team on the day. Fair play to them.

Canes will be better for the experience. Getting Roigard, Savea and Numia back when it matters next year will help.

All in all a much better year but still disappointing to finish the way we did.

TBH it's been a stellar season for the Canes considering no one really expected them to be in the semis. Less crucial injuries and a five-eighth who doesn't conspire to fuck everything up and they'll be a considerable force for a while.

I think they got away from playing the rugby that got them there. Far too expansive early, and never really recovered. Chiefs played a very efficient finals football game, which allowed their players to shine

All I ask is for next week is for Angus Gardner to NOT be the referee next week.

    Or Doleman

    Probably Berry

Hell of a win for the Chiefs. Around the 55 - 60 minute mark I thought we were about to be run down in a hurry.

A massive physical battle all round. Physios will sur earn their keep after that one.

That intercept from Sititi that led to the try broke us there

A few millimeters the other way and he would have had a yellow for deliberate knock down but it was his night for sure and showed exceptional skill to hold on to it
