It's official. Council have advanced Eden Park and Quay Park to the next stage of the hunger games - feasibility stage. All to be funded by the bid teams themselves and done within six months.

seeing as stadiums seem to need large scale refits (or in some cases rebuilds) in that 25-30 year old period....bagging the 24 year old cake tin too much seems a bit route one...."hey old person....youre so old!"

B ) no roof....like almost all of NZ's premier stadiums up to that time...and still like all but 2 in AustralasiaI've been to Forsyth Barr for a test match. The idea was impressive, but for me the execution was lacking. The main stand is excellent. However I sat in cramped seats in a temporary style stand at one end. And it was quicker for me to run outside and piss under a tree than to wait in line for the stadium toilets

The caketin is great. Having a single bowl rather than individual stands means the atmosphere is generally better for an equivalent crowd (compared to my experiences at Eden park and the old chch stadium)
Being exposed is the kind of thing that you worry about before hand but once you're in the crowd it reads doesn't matter anymore.
By stadium seating standards they're comfortable and roomy. It's a shame they're all yellow because it makes gaps so much more obvious, but thats just cosmetic.
Being oval rather than rectangular is probably it's biggest fault, but I think the benefits of rectangles are exaggerated.
