Watched the first half again , thought I read earlier in the thread negative comments re Fekitoa ,I thought he played well .

<p>I wouldn't blame the captain but the forwards esp Moore and Foley. Foley, were you playing? Certainly not playmaking. I thought Foley was going to be a decent international 10 for the Wallabies last year, now not so convinced.</p>

Was working all day yesterday and studiously managed to avoid everything about the game. `sat down at 11 last night to watch the recording I had set but despite the recording showing I was watching the TRC it was of some fucken tennis instead. Virgin have just pushed through a software update and I think that may have screwed it!</p>

Yesterday's win doesn't put the England 3-0 series win in perspective. New Zealand are the number one team in the world for practically the last decade and rarely lose games.<br><br>
If Argentina spank Australia home and away, then it might put the England series in perspective. -

you can't afford to carry a guy like simmons. he's shit in the lineouts, and you can't pick a lock just because he scrums reasonably well and doesn't do anything else. sio, kepu, slipper, moore are all good enough, likewise Hoopah and pocock - but the pooper will only work if you have size and mongrel in the rest of your pack.<br><br>
for us it's all been said really, bloody good performance. crotty was excellent before injury, should be a few people on here reconsidering opinions i think.</p></blockquote>

I actually think Simmons is a good lineout lock. There were two problems I saw from my armchair, poor throwing by Moore and lack of options. <br><br>
The Pocock and Hooper duo will get found out at set piece when the opposition has 4 excellent lineout exponents like Whitelock, Rettalick, Read and Kaino. -

<p>I think you can draw some reference. When England won 3 zip it was accredited more to England being good than Oz being shite. Now Oz, in a match they target every year with their best prep window and have recently been quite tough in, have shown themselves to be pants (even if it was against the best side in the world).</p>

No I don't accept that line of argument. NZ are expected to win a match against Australia - home or away. And they win them regularly. The margin of victory is substantial undoubtedly but the victory is not surprising. <br><br>
Nonetheless, it's when a lower ranked team achieves a similar outcome against Australia that England's series victory might be more comparatively assessed. <br><br>
And you make my point when you say that you'd back England over Argentina any day. So if Argentina were to do a double over the Wallabies, it would put England's series win in perspective. <br><br>

I think unorodox tactics like playing two 7s , can be a good surprise tactic , <br><br>
But once you do it quite a few times it's no longer a surprise tactic <br><br>
Bit like opening the bowling with Dipak Patel
, you have to know when enough is enough . -
<p>Is Michael Hooper actually a good test match player? He's quick, but he's not very effective, and he fucks their lineout. Pocock is good for a couple of defending turnovers a game to save points, but what does he create? And he fucks their lineout. Fardy gives away too many penalties, and is an ordinary carrier, but at least he can win a lineout. McCalman was very disappointing. </p>

<p>Simmons can run a lineout, can apparently push in a scrum, but is effective as wet tissue around the track. Douglas is well under done.</p>

<p>The biggest problem for Aus is, even if they make the same observations as me, what do they do about it? They've got nothing to come in. </p> -

<p>I think Foley is a good player, but it's a damn sight harder to make play when you're going backwards. </p>

<p>That was a brutal game - as shown by the injury toll - but the All Blacks just continued smashing into it and the Wallabies got out-muscled and wilted.</p>

<p>I think Mick's earlier point about most of their team having had very little game time is pertinent - as is Chieka's point about attitude. But it must be pretty intimidating to play against the ABs when they're in that sort of "take no prisoners" mode.</p>

<p>ACT - they probably need to abandoned the two opensiders theory, which never works in the long run - Pocock, Fardy and McCalman to start - Hooper on the bench. Give Pocock the captaincy.</p> -

<p>We can bang on about how bad Aussie were but I would rather bang on about how effective the All Blacks were. From 1-23 (did everyone get on?) that was a complete performance for me.</p>

<p>Finally, so much 'credit' has to be given to Coles for his performance. That was outstanding and he admitted that he was more worried about his lungs than his injury. My man love for him increased 100 fold when he said in his interview that he had to go into some pretty dark places to get himself through.</p> -

After not recording both the RC matches on Saturday night/Sunday morning (but somehow managing to record the Warriors) and then not having an replays on Sunday I found a highlight package to record. Go to watch it, but, no rugby, instead half of it is an interview with Dean Jones and the other half if is darts. :mad1:</p>
