    If he stays fit, Laghlan McWhannell should be in the All Blacks squad when it's named.

    McWhannell really good this season. Renata has been the biggest surprise. Massive improvement at the scrum.

    Blues lineout the most accurate in the comp. Not sure about after Ekland came on.

    @MN5 I don't rate him as an international player. Decent at Super Level (when in a top side) but I can't remember him doing anything much in the Black Jersey.

    There are younger players, with potentially a higher ceiling, who deserve the nod ahead of him.

    The biggest concern for me is the lack, apart from Samipeni Finau, of an out and out 6.

    Second biggest concern is the lack of midfield depth. A couple of injuries and we're in trouble.

    If Delaney could get a bit more "abrasive" he'd be worth a look.

    I think Harry Plummer's doing enough to challenge for the utility back slot.

    In terms of playing style, he seems somewhere between Cruden and Jodie, with a very low error rate. Runs a backline a heck of a lot better than I remember Beauds doing last year.

    I'm on board.

    I am 50 mins into the Blues game and I have been having similar thoughts.

    Plummer has been the forgotten man in the race to find an AB 10. If my memory serves me well, he came on the scene as a promising 10 and got shovelled out to 12. From an NZ perspective I wouldn't mind seeing more of him at 10 for the Blues.

    @Crazy-Horse

    He kept growing and is probably more suited to 12 now. He’s gone well in the last couple of games at 10 though

    Good under the high ball now too. A very handy utility if that’s what the selectors want/need

    Bloody good at direct running when he's at 12 too, certainly plays bigger than he is.

    Is this where you whip out a horrific missed tackles stat?

    @Bones

    I’m a fan, he’s underrated IMO. One of those guys who had a rough start to pro rugby and it takes a lot to overcome that initial reputation

    @Duluth Didn't help that he got thrown into the deep end when the Blues were at their lowest ebb in 2019. He, along with a fair few of those Blues players had to learn on the go and were put in well before their time.

    Luke Romano even said when he was there that it was hard for the Blues at the time in the 2010s because they were always little kids running around with no guidance, Plummer being one of them.

    A Havili-style selection but more solid, reliable and able to run a backline. It's interesting that a number of Blues players look better this year under Cotter

    I don't want to see Ethan Blackadder or Cullen Grace anywhere near the All Blacks squad this year. Not when there are so many other options in the backrow playing well and looking like they actually give a shit.
