No more Adidas rugby balls now.
Gilbert announces new partnership to become the Official Rugby Ball of New Zealand Rugby Union, at all levels.
For the first time in 18 years, Gilbert returns to NZRU as the premier rugby ball in World Rugby, to both the All Blacks and Black Ferns teams. This completes - for the first time ever - a full set of the Top 20 Men’s teams and Top 10 Women’s teams in the world, all using the same market leading Gilbert match ball.
The Gilbert ball will be used in Sky Super Rugby Aupiki, Bunnings Warehouse NPC, Farah Palmer Cup presented by Bunnings Warehouse and the Bunnings Warehouse Heartland Championship from this season and will be used by the All Blacks in the 2024 Steinlager Ultra Low Carb Series, 2024 Lipovitan-D Rugby Championship and the 2024 Bledisloe Cup and the Black Ferns in the Pac 4 and WXV World Rugby tournaments.

Yes. The ABs used Adidas balls for home tests but Gilbert in all other games, including the RWC.

Now just all teams in black including boots etc.

is it even the boots anymore? i know players have the option of adidas gear but i thought several played in other boots because they has a preference

The renewed apparel deal, part of a long-lasting collaboration between the two dating back to 1999, secures the supply of adidas playing kits, boots, and footwear to all NZR teams, including All Blacks, Black Ferns, All Blacks Sevens, Black Ferns Sevens, Māori All Blacks, All Blacks XV, New Zealand Under 20’s, and Heartland XV, with playing kit, apparel, boots, and footwear.

It’s interesting to hear him discuss the enjoyment of new country, team, rugby to help him freshen up mentally as playing in NZ year after year was getting stale for him.
If Ardie announced he was off - As current world player of the year/senior AB in his prime/best player in the team/potential captain and major leader of past regime…. would that make NZR seriously rethink or change its eligibility rules?
Ardie is 31 this year, so it's not like he's a spring chicken so he could feasibly be in that age of wanting to move on even accounting for everything you list there.
But changing for Ardie is as dumb as changing for Mo or any individual player.

i do wish NZR would concentrate on making sure the NZ domestic comps, in whatever form they take, are just good enough to be bring the next guys through so it doesnt matter when older guys look overseas

@george33 didnt Cron finish before Fozzie took over?

He was a decent prop in his playing days. -

He's enjoying Japan and finds it mentally refreshing
The whole point of a sabbatical is to refresh. That's why NZR doesn't mind players doing it. And why they would mind if it were two years in France.
Next Ardie will be telling us how he really likes taking holidays.

@Chris thought so, was more what seemed to be being inferred in the post i responded to.
Trying to read it caused me a mental break, so maybe he was talking about how good the sabbaticals are for the mind?

Fakatava has done nothing this year to justify his name being in the selection frame. For every good thing he does, he makes two or three bad decisions or passes. I'm not saying he won't get there with time, we all saw how good he was a few years back, but he's currently a shadow of that player and what he really needs now is consistent minutes on the park, not spending all his time on the training field.
I think we'll likely see Christie, Perenara and Ratima selected for the July Tests, with Roigard potentially returning to the mix for the EOYT. Fakatava should spend a full season playing for the Highlanders and Hawke's Bay.
Throughout the squad there shouldn't be too many changes...
Gone are Dane Coles, Nepo Laulala, Sam Whitelock, Brodie Retallick, Shannon Frizell, Aaron Smith, Cam Roigard, Richie Mo'unga, Leicester Fainga'anuku and Will Jordan (injury).
Given the above turnover, it's unlikely that someone experienced like Ofa Tu'ungafasi (and still young, in propping terms) will miss out. Ardie Savea, Sam Cane and Beauden Barrett will all likely still be selected too.
Coles - Aumua
Laulala - Ma'u, Numia, Dyer
Whitelock/Retallick - Lord and Tuipulotu, Strange, Walker-Leawere, McWhannell
Frizell - Ioane or Sotutu, Grace
Smith/Roigard - Perenara and Ratima
Mo'unga - Love or Perofeta
Fainga'anuku - Narawa, Proctor
Jordan - StevensonBower to replace Laulala rated highly by Ryan, even though he is a LH
he can cover TH so can Willliams. Please not Tamaiti at TH.

Why are some getting all surprised, or even upset at what Ardie has said or done.
He went to Japan for a season, get a few extra $s and play some rugby that is not quite so intense, and then said he kind of refreshed after it, pretty well what every rugby player that does it has since, shit I remember Leon MacDonald saying couple of years there set him up, body and mind came right. And Ardie says he thinks he would like to see changes to eligiblity rules , shock ,horror, how dear he utter words we don't agree with, I against , but if ABs are only allowed to have same opinions as me, it's time for a few to pack it in I suppose. Christ almighty, some want a bit of a change, a breather form the relentless pressure they get in NZ, where like it or not we think they belong to us! Read Richie McCaws book when he talks of being at restaraunt , and some woman shoving a phone in his face so he would say hello to her friend. Like when Richie, DC, Conrad etc etc had either year breaks or a season somewhere else, if it allows them to play longer good on them.
How many people that we know have gone for the big OE etc and we applaud them?
