RWC Final: All Blacks v Springboks
-
I lost interest in the match not when Cane was red carded. Although that was bad enough due to the rejection of the 20-minute rule. But when Kolisi wasn't I lost interest in the game. Rugby has become a farce that I can't be bothered with
But I went and looked at the Kolisi non red card again just now. What a joke. Straight into Savea head. If this isn't an automatic red card the rules need changing. He just bent over and went straight for Ardie's head. More reckless than Canes red.
Both should have been automatic red cards. WR must have rules to protect the head. But the clowns at WR also need to introduce a 20 minute rule
It's very simple. But my enthusiasm for a sport run by clowns has diminished now. And it's close to home too (Aust). NZ sadly isn't much better

really just posting...because i feel i should post after the big game
Gutted sums it up
There are things i would like to complain about but the reality we just didn't play as well as we needed to win, we didn't play like we did against ireland and it showed
I also just think SA wanted it more, i know their fans did, at a pub in melbourne and their fans were RABID, kiwis stood quietly at most mumbling the national anthem but the Bokke supporters were calling it out, chanting during the game etc....and i think the team played like it too...just flying up on defence when we held back and waited for them to come to us
i feel we get cards by carelessness or brain explosions, cane gets caught off guard with a player turning into him...card, scooter last week = brain fart...the Bokke get done because theyre pushing the limits, if they catch someone in a high tackle its because theyre flown out to make a dominant tackle
now thats a bad result....but i think it shows they just really want to win...and we just want to play a bit of footy
Mate, the bolded part is absolute nonsense. Whatever mistakes the team made, they held on with 14 blokes for 60mins against a seriously physical Bok team. It was an all-time level of effort. I suggest you watch the video above in the thread of the changing room after the match then tell me the guys didn't want it as much.
was reflecting that arguably the coaches did their damn job. We got to that final with a fit team, who knew how they wanted to play, and put on a superb performance. What cost them were the Cane/Friz cards, the missed kicks, and the handling drops. Arguably that's not on the coaches -they prepared a team, put it out there, and in good form.
This makes me feel slightly ill, but the coaching group ahs been really growing into their roles.

@nzzp who do you reckon made the call to stop contesting lineouts? Is that Ardie, the locks or the coaches? (genuine qn)
we were putting the fear of god up Fourie, seemed a weird decision to stop doing something that was legitimately working
-
@voodoo im not going to go back and forth, not saying they didnt want to win...not saying they didnt want to win more than anything....but watching the game and then the replay....i feel the Bokke were just hitting harder, coming up faster, they had a bloody hard road to the final and still managed to keep their nose in front

@nzzp Karma really IS a bitch isn't it?
Acting the dickhead to opposition supporters and players after the final whistle just sets you up for payback. Idiot.Pretty common view held around here, none of us were impressed with Rieko - so not sure why you're banging that drum here
-
Of course he can change his mind…

i know right, trolls got to troll i guess

@voodoo Because now is exactly when it comes back to bite him in the arse.
So much for the famous "humility"... He did a lot of damage to perception of NZ rugby sportsmanship in the NH. Maybe you don't care about that and that's fine too.
Glad to hear it wasn't popular on here, although I didn't think it would among the majority of posters. -

I hope Reiko didn't miss his flight home.
Karma's a bitch.Well I expect win or lose, he was on the same flight...so he should be good, appreciate your concern though Johnny.

What a load of horseshit. If our guys weren't desperate to win they would have given up when their captain was sent off. Just because Saffas puff their chests out more in pubs doesn't mean our players wanted it any less.

They certainly weren't blue headed tho, SA know exactly what they want and don't get over excited like a lot of our backs seemed to

I wonder if it was because they were down to 14 they felt they needed all to defend. Contesting LO means they've taken 3 out of the defensive live they're already one short on.

@Winger yep the decision not to red card Kolisi was totally inconsistent. Ardie didn’t dip and yet Kolisi got him flush on the face, with Ardie reeling back from the contact. The fact that Kolisi bent over slightly actually meant he led with his head into the contact. Incredibly dangerous.
We all know that rugby has become boring card lottery and that the mugs that run the game from Europe are incompetent. This is at every level not just WC finals.

That has nothing to do with wanting to win. And remember our guys were a man down for most of the game.
