Now World Rugby reviewing whether or not Kolisi yellow updated to red. If so, match replayed.
Hang on, you are joking, right?

Cane said he was surprised the Bok moved/swerved back into him. I'd agree but still a clumsy tackle.
A sudden dip and late change of direction?
I don't think he mentined dip but he did say turn back into him, which would have cut down his time to tackle lower...
-
@nostrildamus Gotcha. Was winding up Boks with that one!
-
Yep some AB heads weren't in the right space. Lack of composure and discipline, overly flash backline moves in the rain, chaotic TMO decisions. Hope everyone has seen the last collapsed scrum on X, SB has a good view. Barnes looked stressed in the end and who can blame him.
Even if we had sneeked the game with a goal kick I still wouldn't have been overly happy as it was a chaotic mess and a poor advert for rugby.
Overall SA deserved to win the melee. -

The call to go for the corner, rather than the posts, came from foster, it was mentioned in the comms
Terrible coaching
Foster's going to Fozie bear. Quite appropriate result when you look at it this way
Is this in the 2nd half? I was more annoyed when they turned down the 3 in the first half and went for the lineout, and then Cane gets red carded in the next play. Down by 6 points on a wet day and they ignore the 3.
That first half one, called by cane under instructions from coach

As a neutral I thought it was a great game. Very absorbing contest.
All the 'RIP rugby' takes on this thread have me somewhat bemused. I'm no fan of the cards and the TMO but ultimately the game flowed pretty well and if you haven't made your peace with the high contact rules now then you never will.
I thought Wayne Barnes had a good game, especially in the last 20. He understood the stakes, let the players decide the game without it descending into a free-for-all. Of course you can always screenshot incident X or play Y, and if you're looking for perfection you are going to be disappointed.
But in a tight, physical game with each side throwing haymakers I thought he got a lot more right than he did wrong, and he allowed the game to flow really well with clear communication.
Is this a wee troll? What are these rules exactly because they change or are interpreted completely differently almost every single game. Same for what the TMO bothers to look at and same for what the ref bothers to reverse if he happens to see it on the big screen. It's an absolute dogs breakfast, and you're kidding yourself if you claim otherwise.

I'm not sure if the going for the corner over going from a penalty is the slam dunk three points eveyone is suggesting it is. IIRC it was from a wide angle nearly 50 metres out. It was a 50/50 kick at best with our kickers.
Plus, how often in the RWC did our lineout fail? Barely ever until the final. Our chances of not securing that lineout were 90/10, unfortunately for us it was the 10 this time.
I don't think it was as bad a decision as everyone is making out.

I thought this was quite a cool pic
That happened right in front of me. DDA broke off victory lap and walked 5m over to do that. Class.
That is so cool and one reason attending live just can’t be beat.

By then we had already lost our first two lineouts, and it was an easier kick

X User:
The All Blacks were robbed , the Boks got a free 3 points. Wayne Barnes admits to Ardie he got his call wrong and still allows the kick. He is an ......... (blah blah), he pulls back an illegal All Black try, but allows illegal Bok penalty. -

They clearly wanted to hang onto the ball early, and run the Bok forwards around.
What really pissed me off was losing the lineout - that put Cane into the situation to get carded.

But he'd all but sealed the fate of the match well before that. The Frizzell yellow was worse than Kolisi not getting a red. Not to mention the bizarre rulings around the ruck

really just posting...because i feel i should post after the big game
Gutted sums it up
There are things i would like to complain about but the reality we just didn't play as well as we needed to win, we didn't play like we did against ireland and it showed
I also just think SA wanted it more, i know their fans did, at a pub in melbourne and their fans were RABID, kiwis stood quietly at most mumbling the national anthem but the Bokke supporters were calling it out, chanting during the game etc....and i think the team played like it too...just flying up on defence when we held back and waited for them to come to us
i feel we get cards by carelessness or brain explosions, cane gets caught off guard with a player turning into him...card, scooter last week = brain fart...the Bokke get done because theyre pushing the limits, if they catch someone in a high tackle its because theyre flown out to make a dominant tackle
now thats a bad result....but i think it shows they just really want to win...and we just want to play a bit of footy

Fair enough, and they should stick to that plan, but it's still absolutely the wrong decision when you are given a kickable penalty. We all know in the biggest games, you have to take the points when on offer and keep in touch with the opposition. Take the 3 and they would have only been trailing by 3.
It's not like the kick to touch was ever going to result in a 5 metre lineout, it was at best always going to be around the 22. On a wet day, against a supper aggressive defence, the chances of scoring a try from that far out was always going to be slim.

Mate, the bolded part is absolute nonsense. Whatever mistakes the team made, they held on with 14 blokes for 60mins against a seriously physical Bok team. It was an all-time level of effort. I suggest you watch the video above in the thread of the changing room after the match then tell me the guys didn't want it as much.

@NTA "Why did Wayne Barnes not overturn the Savea penalty?
Because he can't.
Why?
Because imagine if after every decision the ref looked at the screen and then decided if it was correct."
That's exactly what they do already.
Course he can change it.

I lost interest in the match not when Cane was red carded. Although that was bad enough due to the rejection of the 20-minute rule. But when Kolisi wasn't I lost interest in the game. Rugby has become a farce that I can't be bothered with
But I went and looked at the Kolisi non red card again just now. What a joke. Straight into Savea head. If this isn't an automatic red card the rules need changing. He just bent over and went straight for Ardie's head. More reckless than Canes red.
Both should have been automatic red cards. WR must have rules to protect the head. But the clowns at WR also need to introduce a 20 minute rule
It's very simple. But my enthusiasm for a sport run by clowns has diminished now. And it's close to home too (Aust). NZ sadly isn't much better
