    George Tilsley

    Yep, he signed a short-term "joker Coupe du Monde" contract with Toulouse in July after 4 seasons with Perpignan. Convicted of domestic violence and a suspended prison sentence of 6 months for a probationary period of 2 years. I wonder whether he gets kicked out of France now, too.

    @Tim If there is any good news to take out Friday night for the ABs, it is this. In a game where almost everything else fell apart under big Springbok pressure, at least the AB tackle technique remained sound.

    There’s an issue around travel though. I know they used to have to subsidise the travel costs for visiting teams a while back. Not sure about more recently.

    Edit: Plus of course none of the clubs pay direct tax because none of them make a profit.

    The issue is that none of these bloody entitled clubs can cover their own fucking costs because no one goes to watch them. They all bitch and moan about the rfu but basically they’re spending money they can’t raise on the basis of a potential handout. Rugby in this country is fucked

    Premiership clubs are getting desperate for money, so this is a good time for the RU to push for more control

    @Machpants met them on their way up, first time I've had to fly for a club league game. I think it was the second, or 3rd year of some rich guy throwing money at the club. Stacked with kiwis, Aussies and a couple of Fijians.

    Clubs that buy their way to the top via talent only don't tend to last long.

    @Dodge

    A thing of beauty. Smith gets the assist but that was all about Tyrone Green.

    Just watching the Bath vs Bristol game from last night and finally believe England may have a centre worthy of the name in Olly Lawrence. Been slightly skeptical for a while that he was just a poor man’s Manu, but last night he had strength, cut great angles, through some lovely passes. Looked a class apart. Just shows sometimes you have to let a player with potential get better and not write them off too early. Hope he bring this into the England set up

    @Dodge I'd never heard of him until the last 6n, but rate him very highly, he's got the goods to go far.

    Once he figures out he should go through tackles rather than passes he'll be gold.
