I said in my defense I'd had a beer or three, and might well have a few more, Despite that, you appear to take me far too seriously.
Very good win to the Canes, they've quietly done the business this season and deserve to be playing the final at home. The Chiefs unfortunately didn't fire a shot after not taking up the opportunity of the penalty kicks, but you have to give the Canes the credit for their defence. They were good first up and great in cover - the Chiefs actually made a few in roads at times but the cover always chopped them down. Travel probably played a factor in the Chiefs poor performance but they should have won an extra game to avoid it.

Maybe TJP needs to be made permanent captain, he seems to play better and he managed to persuade Gardiner to not card a player in the first half.

So only recent results count? Joseph's numbers of years of failure with both Wellington and the Highlanders were wiped out with last years win I see?

With the amount of defence of the squad limitations on the Crusaders thread, I think that a case can be made for the past few years that Rennie's actually done well with regular finals appearances considering they've usually been decimated by injury.

Anyone who thinks A Savea is better than Micheal Jones is too young (or has alsheamers) to rememeber the best "classic" 7 who has ever played. They also can't remember the best 7 who ever played the game who could evolve from a classic 7 to reinvent the position until he retired in 2015.

Weirdly, even though Carter just retired, I think BB has the potential to be compared with Carter when BB retires. Both have won a RWC for example.

Do you ever go on PR, there's a poster called douche chill, you (actually TBF a number of Barrett fanbois) are starting to remind me of him. DC's the greatest 10 to play the game. Barrett's had two good tests at 10 and half a Super season and you're going off half cocked. Winning a WC is irrelevant really, Cruden won a WC as well. Lets see how he goes in a run of games in the RC before we anoint him as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

In saying that Barrett had a great game, his running was great and his error rate was low (although likely not as low as the fanbois will have us believe).

James Lowe in the ABs ? No thanks. J Savea would be getting crucified if he had a game like that.

I'm a big fan of Lowe but he was terrible, however, J Savea has games like that (which is partly why he was sitting on the bench this week and two bogans from the Hutt were on the wings) where he gets defended by his fans.
-

I thought McKenzie went ok. But he should be flyhalf not fullback. Things happen every time he touches the ball. Either he or Cruden should move out. Imagine how good the Blues would be next year with one of those two.

Is that after the Chiefs went close to scoring? I saw TJ madly apologising to Cane and did wonder what he'd done. Farkin idiot if he has kicked him.

Besides that, Cane was fairly horrendous tonight, while Ardie stood up big time. Interesting times ahead.
-
Great game for canes fans. The Chiefs came to play but our desire and brutality on defence was as impressive as any canes game I can remember. That goal line stand in the first half where the Chiefs hammered away declined to take the penalty kick and ultimately turned it over. BB and TJP played brilliantly well, everyone did their part, and we took enough of our chances on attack. But in the end the win was built on uncharacteristic relentless defence. One more game please

I don't blow sushine up Arides arse, or TJPs, or Coles, or VV or any other 'canes arse.

I'm sure you don't mean to insult me by suggesting I go on the toxic wasteland that is PR but I do recall the Auckland - Cantab hatred that cropped up when NZ was fortunate enough to have an all time great seven replaced in the same life time as another all time great seven.

All I'm doing is suggest that just maybe NZ might be similarly fortunate at first five but I also said " I think BB has the potential to be compared with Carter when BB retire" so I said "potential" and when "BB retires" so basically I'm leaving a shit load of time to decide and only suggesting potential.

I'm still the MJ is a better rugby player, Richie a greater AB camp, and Kronfeld is a bit underrated as the guy in the middle who was bloody good too.
-

We seem to be debating whether BB would be the greatest 10 currently for the ABs versus Cruden when perhaps Shag is debating whether - for the team - BB is better at starting 10 or than BB at 2nd half FB/Wing/10

Can't Gardner just have week in Welly? -

Demoting or dropping Cruden now without a severe dip in his own form would be very unlike this selection panel.

Barrett demands a greater role, but I don't see why it has to be at 10, many of the plays he made could easily be made at fullback. Ben Smith can move to the wing most likely in the most simplest move or centre if issues persist there for something more complicated.

If Barrett is the long term starting 10 that would be the best possible thing for McKenzie. Much like how Evans always started with MacDonald or McAlister in the starting side - Barrett will need someone who can manage the position if he goes down in the first 10 minutes - but also provides a genuine option in another position. McKenzie is the only one like that on the horizon. Cruden would be toast.
-

Yes, but the lower/eastern/western north island awesomeness don't have Nonu who was on fire on 2015 and was one of the rocks on which RWC2015 was created. This year neither is playing either and maybe that compensates for last years slightly off BB and a missing Awesome Savea.

We didn't play our best in the final last year, and taking nothing away from the Highlanders who deserved to win, despite that if BB had kicked his makeable goals we probably would have won. He's on fire in every way and it's showing, and we are playing with a far greater focus and intensity which Boyd and Plumtree should take some credit for -
