Hurricanes v Chiefs

Looking at the two likely team line ups.

Canes have probably got a clear advantage at no 10 where BB is beginning to have a Dan Carter 2005 breakout season. Any unbiased observer would agree the AB future is All Barrett.

Yeah, this is very much a rebuilding year for the Canes given the number of key players we lost from last year. We couldn't expect them to make the final. -

Agreed. The canes are buggered without the finals experience from last years first choice props, locks, centers and most of the back three starting from last year. Now they have also lost the inspirational hooker.

Basically Hanson is going to look at how BB has carried this team into the semi final, he'll decide that BB is naturally the far superior first five. Cruden had a cake walk by comparison.
-

I think we're all agreeing. The canes are buggered. The games is the Chiefs to lose.

All I was doing in my acknowledgement of BB was point out that he had carried the rebuilding Canes to a semi and that Cruden was maybe the third best canes catchment area first five after BB and Lima. Obviously as the nursery of NZ first fives, the canes catchment will try and find a couple more to give the Blues and Crusaders a decent player too. We're selfless like that. Always thinking how to ensure NZ rugby as a whole is strong.
-

Nah, the Canes have the best 7 and 10 in the history of <strike>NZ</strike> world rugby, the Chiefs don't stand a chance.

Seriously though, I still think the travel will play a big part. It's easy to say it won't matter on the night but even if the players are up to it, preparation is everything in tight games and the Canes have had an extra couple of days of it.
-

Really hope the Canes pull it off but won't be too disappointed if they lose out to the Chiefs. They've exceeded my wildest expectations getting this far.

Would be bloody ironic though if they won this year after losing both centres, both locks, NMS, and now Coles, and with a fat, shit Savea. -

No, I said that Cruden was "maybe" the third best first five from the Canes catchment area. Hardly a proclamation. It was more of an acknowledgement that the lower/eastern/western North Island is the nursery of rugby awesomeness that attempts to keep AB rugby strong. As everyone knows, when lower/eastern/western North Island rugby is strong, All Black rugby is strong.

In my defense, in the RWC2015 Cruden couldn't have played better than Carter and would have been a worse bench warmer than BB. Also in the 2015 Soup Rugby final Lima > BB, so 2015-16 form suggests Carter > Lima > BB. So therefore, Carter > Lima > BB > Cruden. Carter has retired from NZ rugby so therefore Cruden is "maybe" the third best first five from the Canes catchment area. Logic proven.

Anyone suggesting Cruden is in the running has to go to ancient 2014 history.

I rest my case your honor.

PS Been at Inlaw's cousin birthday thing for several hours all ready and I've been drinking and no one has fed me and I wasn't aloud to go to game this weekend by Wife (her "You went last weekend to the rugby, and if they win you can go next weekend and I said we'd be there six months ago, you never go to my family's things.. why is that?...don't you like them???? Me "yes, dear, OK, I'll go".) If I swear, spell badly and generally act like a drunk guy streaming game on phone, I apologize in advance.
-
