When was the last time this side put 3 statement wins together? None. They had the opportunity this year and fucked it.
Uh this year? Argie in Argie, vs Boks in Auckland a week later. Then destroyed Wallabies in front of 83k in Melbourne.

@chimoaus
And Jordie Barrett’s defense tonight
Sam Cane was just not there
Jacobsen not good enough
De Groot smashed in the scrumsFucking everything was a concern.
I hope Foster has enough space in his dairy for all the lessons from today.
All he has got in his dairy are pies and ice creams

Argentina was a statement win? SA? Good wins but hardly statements. They lost both second halves. Had an opportunity to put the wallabies to the sword in DUD but fucked around and almost found out.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel yeah but he was forced into it and it could have come off.

So beating SA in Auckland one week after being in Argie isn't a statement win but losing to SA in Twickenham in a RWC warm up game is an example of blowing a statement win opportunity? That makes no sense.

A record loss is a different thing, tho

so anyone held at a ruck has the right to just reply by punching in the head, jog on…
It was mostly slaps on the back. This happens in every match.
Gamesmanship from Jacobson with a performative repsonse from the player held. The ref saw it and recognised it was nothing

Their arm, yes. Head is red card, he should be cited
Back of the shoulder & middle of the back.

The Boks did put an under done team against us in Auckland,most of that Bok team had not played since The end of the premiership months earlier.
Maybe that win was a false dawn.
Even the Argies we beat were under done had only been together a few days and had not played for months ,
Maybe we got a false hope from those performances but if you look closer it doesn’t look as impressive as we first thought. -
It changes how I look at that quarter final ,
I was thinking hope it’s SA , now it doesn’t matter , I don’t believe we start favourites in either options .
-
I understand player welfare etc but I would be curious to see how many minutes each player in the squad has played since the end of super rugby. Some would have very little game time which must make it hard to be consistent when you are training for 99% of the time.
Edit: In saying that Roigard probably has very few but has been stellar in all his minutes in black so far.

Maybe we got a false hope from those performances but if you look closer it doesn’t look as impressive as we first thought.We haven’t yet played a good 60 or 80 minutes. Just 40. World Cups are about test match grind. Earning the right to go wide by winning contact, playing territory, minimising mistakes so you control your destiny. I love it when our guys play with ball in hand and move wide but that first 40 was everything you don’t want to see - shitty exits, high penalty count, binned players. So the question is what is the game plan? Because the one today isn’t the right one.

@KiwiMurph own goal bro

ABs top team hadn't played since Melb and was a RWC warm up game and ABs spent the majority of the game at least 1 man down due to cards
